Thanksgiving

thanksgiving

Well, it’s almost Thanksgiving when we here in America celebrate the “founding” of the nation. To be honest that part is not a fond thought for me as I have Native American ancestry and in some ways it is bothersome. But it is a time when we should all stop and reflect back on the past year and think on what we should be thankful for at this time. For Christians, we have something for which to be thankful all day, everyday. The redemption Christ bought for us with His blood.

But, as I reflect on the past 12 months I do have that for which to be thankful; and I am thankful indeed. But in some ways it was an extremely trying year. I had some losses that weren’t easy to bear. I was betrayed by people from whom I would have never expected it. I saw the majority of my parents possessions sold. But regardless of those things I rejoice in the Lord! He is my Redeemer, my Savior, my Hope in seemingly hopeless times. I am thankful for those who, through their actions, I learned or relearned lessons on human nature and that I need only trust Him and not people. I realized that through Him I can overcome amazingly difficult times. Jesus showed me that He was there for me to lean on during those difficult times. The strength He gave me m helped me learn to where I must turn in all things, the good and the bad.

Rejoice in the Lord alway: [and] again I say, Rejoice.  Philippians 4:4

1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;
4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope:
5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

Romans 5:1-5

7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
8 Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;
9 Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:
10 That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:
11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:
12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.

Ephesians 1:7-12

Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.   Romans 15:13

I endured suffering yet as much heartache and pain as I dealt with I did endure. Not because of me but because of Christ in me. And no matter how bad I thought I was suffering I know that the worst I went through and the worst I could ever go through pales in comparison to what Christ suffered on the cross on my behalf. He did so willingly and out of love for us all. He took the burden from me and gave me a lighter load.

God has taught me so much in the last year and even though He has I know I have much more to learn about living for Him. I’m definitely still a work in progress.

Lord,  I praise Your Holy Name and come to You today to thank You for the many blessings, some I knew were blessings and some I only realized we’re blessing after you taught me some truths. I thank You for the good and the bad that has. One my way. Through Christ all things work for my benefit. Even the things I don’t realize are benefitting me. I pray in Jesus name that You bless us all and use the good and bad to draw us too You.  Heal and comfort those who are sick, show those living in sin and outside of Your plans for them how to become reconciled with You through Jesus.  Help all learn the true path You wish is to follow. Thank You again for all the blessings.  Mercy. Forgiveness. And grace.

Amen

and to those who managed to get through my drivel. Thank you for your time. Have a blessed day and try to be a blessing to someone else today.

Never give up on a dream just because of the time it will take to accomplish it. Time will pass anyway. Earl Nightengale

dreambed

A few years ago (okay, more than a few) as I was talking to coworkers and friends while I was starting on college classes in order to obtain my bachelors degree and go to medical school I heard more times than I can remember, “That will take at least 8 years. Do you know how old you will be in 8 years if you go to medical school?” Well, my response was, “The same age I will be in 8 years if I don’t go to school.” There were some who were very supportive, but others that were not supportive, maybe due to concern for me or out of jealousy, that I don’t know. But, there were some who did try to discouraging me from pursuing my education.

While it is true that it would (did) take 8 years to get my bachelor’s degree and finish medical school and yes, that is a long time, it is also true that had I not done it I would have had frustration with myself when that 8 years was up if I didn’t put the effort into it. Now, 20 years after graduating medical school the time and effort was worth it.

How many times have I, or others, NOT done things because it would take too much time, it will be a week, a month, a year, several years……but then complained, at least to themselves for not doing it. There are a lot of things that take time but if one has a dream, giving up on a dream because of the effort and time required only causes frustration in the long run. And, if the dream remains, it only delays what one needs to do to achieve that goal. And, my life has shown me that the really good things do not come easily and require a lot more effort while those things that come easily, are rarely as good as the things one works harder to obtain. I know personally, I don’t appreciate what comes to me easily, but if it is something that requires effort, I value it much more.

And the king said unto Araunah, Nay; but I will surely buy it of thee at a price: neither will I offer burnt offerings unto the LORD my God of that which doth cost me nothing. So David bought the threshingfloor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver.   2 Samuel 24:24

Sometimes, God puts a dream or vision in our minds to do something and sometimes that thing will require a lot of dedication and hard work. Some will start down a path then give up soon after starting, not wanting to devote the time required because it will take too long. Others will start and part way through, sometimes very near the finish line, they give up not willing to put forth anymore effort. God uses goals and dreams to test our determination. Sadly, some fail the test.

1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Hebrews 12:1-2

He wants us to remain steadfast and true, as dedicated to Him as He is to us. He wants us to strive to win and once we have our sights on something He does not want us to surrender and quit and that we fight for what we believe Christ has instructed us to do.

24 Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.
25 And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.
26 I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:
27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

1 Corinthians 9:24-27

God puts dreams, wishes and aspirations into our hearts and minds so that we can accomplish things for His glory. He does so to test our faith, to help us become stronger in that faith and trust in Him to see us through all He set before us. He doesn’t want us to give up on something because it isn’t easy. He wants us to learn the value of working hard, for Him, for ourselves and for others. He tries to teach us patience by making some things more difficult and making us wait. All those things help us become better Christians and better servants for Jesus. He wants us to lean on Him when things appear too difficult for us, when it appears that things are not possible due to the effort and time it will take and when we feel weak. Christ will strengthen us, all we need to do is seek Him and ask for His help.

And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.   Mark 10:27

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.  Philippians 4:13

Lord, I thank You for helping me stay the course to reach the goals You put in my heart in the past and for helping me see the finish line and purpose for running various races in my life. I praise You for teaching me patience and dedication. I thank You for showing me other goals to help me be a better person and better Christian and servant. I pray You use my efforts to better glorify Jesus and the sacrifice He made for my forgiveness. That You keep me strong as I follow You and help me to become worthy of all You have done for me. I pray in the name of Jesus that You help others see that regardless of the difficulty we see, all things are possible through Christ who strengthens us. That You will give us the strength and dedication to finish that which you put before us and keep us in Your arms to make all things possible. Help us all see the true plan You have for us.

Amen

Thank to all for your time today. I hope You have a great day and that you are able to be a blessing to someone else.

DUDE! He smoked me!

PT

That is an expression that is used in the military a lot when a soldier has “earned” some extra physical training by less than exemplary behavior. Although, at times they may be wanting to do some extra training to get into better physical condition. But, either way, after the session, one may hear someone say that. I had a patient the other day that was having muscle pain, he was training for some race and he and his platoon sergeant were doing some long runs in the evenings. He came in with muscle cramps and I asked him what happened and he said, “Dude, he smoked me.” Then, went on to explain what happened. I took care of his needs at that time and sent him on his way.

Then, I got to thinking about here a few weeks ago, praying and asking God to help me have more faith, help me trust Him more and to be stronger in my walk with Christ. THEN, well, then he answered my prayers and WOW, DUDE…He SMOKED ME! How does God help one build faith and get stronger in their walk with Him? Well, just like physical muscles and strength, it will only get stronger if it is used, close to the overuse point, so one can learn and grow. And, through a variety of circumstances He surely has helped me exercise spiritually.

In the past, in situations like some I have faced I would have responded a variety of different ways, none spiritually healthy. But now, I deal with those things with prayer, reading scripture and talking to God. He has not, nor will He ever do me wrong, He has given me the strength to deal with the issues with which I have been challenged, He has helped me respond better than I would have in the past and when my prayers are not answered immediately in the way I would like, I realize He is also teaching my patience. Maybe the answer to my prayers will be yes, perhaps no, or maybe the answer will be not now but later. Regardless of the answer, He is helping me better leave things in His control and know that He will take care of me. If a prayer isn’t answered with a yes, it is because something is not what He wants for me, He wants better for me. But, He continues to help me deal with all the issues of life with which we all deal, but sure helping me do so better.

Sometimes, well, I get exactly what I pray for, and with this, well, like I said. Dude, HE smoked me. But, Praise God that He did.

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
6 Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:
7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:
9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.

1 Peter 1:3-9

1 For as much then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;
2 That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.
3 For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:
4 Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:
5 Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead.
6 For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.
7 But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.

1 Peter 4:1-7

12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:
13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.
14 If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.
15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men’s matters.
16 Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.

1 Peter 4:12-16

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. John 16:33

1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;
4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope:
5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

Romans 5:1-5

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.     Philippians 4:13

Yes, God will strengthen us when we need strength, He will teach us patience and faith through our trials and tribulations. He will make us into the Christians He wants us to be for His use. Praise Him for the trials and tribulations, for the challenges that we encounter in life. Thank God for the opportunity to become stronger in my faith. I asked Him to make me into a better servant, and boy, He sure has been trying to do that.

Lord, I stand in awe of You and all Your majesty. I worship You for all You are and do. I thank You for working to make me a better Christian, increasing my faith and strength in Jesus. I praise You for allowing me to suffer to learn to be humble and meek, content in difficult circumstances and more than anything for my redemption. I pray in Jesus Name that You continue to help me grow, increase my faith and help me be the servant You wish me to be for Christ. I ask You to help me show You in my daily walk. Please draw my loved ones to You and burden them to turn away from sin and instead, turn to You. Show us all Your plan for us.

Amen

I hope you have a great day. I appreciate your time to read my posts and hope that you get some kind of blessing today, and that you are sure to be a blessing to someone else as well.

The hole in the clouds

sunbeam

The other day it was overcast when I got up. Not storm clouds, but lots of clouds. You could tell the sun was rising, but couldn’t see it. Then, a hole in the clouds. The kind where the sun shines through and it has like beams of white surrounding it. I see that and I imagine  Christ coming back. I probably saw a picture like that in Sunday school or something some time in the past. I don’t know, but that morning, the place where the sun was in the sky, the hole in the clouds and all, it shined straight into my window. I had been praying about work situation, life in general, concern about kids, grandkids, all the normal life things we all have to deal with most everyday. Plus, wanting to learn to seek Him better and have more faith. I am getting much better at both, but some days, it is more difficult than others.

Now, I don’t know exactly which area He was telling me this about, maybe all of them, but I felt that He was telling me, “Don’t worry my child, I have heard your prayers. I have it all in my hands. Things will be perfect for you and you will have all you ask for and more.”

25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? Matthew 6:25-26

Then, after a couple minutes, the hole closed for a while and eventually, the clouds dissipated or the rest of the day. But, that moment, I felt Him reassure me all will be as He plans for me.

For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. Romans 15:4

Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:1

28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.
29 He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.
30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:
31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Isaiah 40:28-31

But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul. Deuteronomy 4:29

Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. John 15:16

22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.
23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

Mark 11:22-24

He will be there for me, strengthen me, bless me, protect me when needed. I have all the strength, blessings and comfort I need in Christ. He will magnify my faith, He promises so much, none of which I deserve, but I praise His Holy Name that He is gracious beyond human ability to comprehend.

Lord, Thank You for the reassurance that You hear my prayers and the promises that You will answer my prayers. I ask in Jesus Name that You continue to help me increase my faith and teach me more on how to seek You. Help me have the words to help others find You as well. I pray that You reach out to my unsaved loved ones and draw them too You. Use me to help them find the salvation You offer.

Amen

I truly appreciate all that stop by and take time to read my blog. I hope all have a blessed day and that you do your best to bless someone else.

God is my Sidearm

lil cowboy.jpg

So, an interesting thing I noticed today. I’m not sure when exactly, but a change in my behavior came to my attention today. While there have been a lot of changes since I came back to Christ, some I notice, some others notice, this one though, I did not realize until today. I have been carrying a side arm, a pistol, since I returned from Iraq, unless it is not allowed. Oh, it’s all legal and such, and though it was necessary for me to use my sidearm there, I have not needed to do so since I got back. Well, then why carry one if you don’t really need to carry it? That comes down to the pistol being a security blanket of sorts. I was so used to carrying one that I felt uncomfortable without one. I would get nervous, antsy without one. There was something about feeling the weight of it, knowing IF I needed it, I had it. Without it, I felt naked, exposed, vulnerable. I know a lot has to do with my experiences at war, but I am certain there are other factors involved as well. But, today, I got to work for the day, reached to take my weapon and secure it as I can’t carry it in at work. AND…..it wasn’t there! I did not get nervous, I did not feel insecure, at risk, vulnerable or any other term you can use to describe how I felt without one before. I was fine, just sort of shrugged it off and went about my business. As the day progressed, I thought about it a bit more a time or two. I didn’t really dwell on the thought, but I would puzzle on why the change in my attitude. As I thought on it some, I realized that many times over the last several weeks I have left home without it and hadn’t given it a thought. That is a HUGE change for me. The sidearm was my security blanket if you will, my protection, my safety in case of danger. As I thought about it, I realized that now, God is my Sidearm, my Shield, my Security, my Protector from danger. Without realizing it consciously I had given up the firearm and replaced it with God.

I want to tell you, this replacement is SO MUCH BETTER! I don’t feel nervous, I don’t feel anxious, I don’t feel vulnerable or exposed. I have peace that He will take care of me.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Psalms 23:4

Thou shalt increase my greatness, and comfort me on every side. Psalms 71:21

16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

John 14:16-18

26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:
27 And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning.

John 15:26-27

There are many more references to comfort. Yes, He has comforted me in regards to many things. This just happens to be the one I noticed today. Praise Jesus. What a mighty God we serve.

Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy right hand hath holden me up, and thy gentleness hath made me great. Psalms 18:35

The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him. Psalms 28:7

Yes, He is my shield, my protection. Again, WHAT A MIGHTY GOD WE SERVE!

Lord, I praise You and thank You for the comfort, for being my shield, for making so many changes in me. I pray You continue the work You have begun. Make me the servant for You I should be. I ask that You help me better understand Your plans for me. That I submit to Your will for me. I pray that loved ones be receptive and understanding of Your plans in their lives as well. Draw those not saved to You, so they may have the salvation You offer through the sacrifice of Your Son, Jesus. I ask You teach me to seek You more every day.

Amen

Thanks for the visit. Small thing I know, but after so long, feeling naked and alone without a sidearm, it is amazing to me that He has made such changes.

I gotta say it, I do love my Christ and He loves me too, or He sure wouldn’t do all He is doing in my life.

Fitness Test

fitness

I mentioned being in the military. I was active duty for several years and have been in the National Guard for a several years since my active duty time. One part of military, active duty or reserves is fitness testing. We have to take the fitness tests a couple times a year that consist of sit ups, push ups and either running, walking or some other event to test aerobic and cardio fitness the Army physical fitness test or APFT because the military loves its acronyms. Well, years ago when I first had to start doing them, I could pass, but didn’t do as well as I would have liked, more on that later. But, I ran a lot, worked out more. Due to other events in life I was doing less working out so the tests were more of a hassle, my scores went down, I still passed, but not as easily and not as well as previously. I started working out more, losing weight, getting back into shape and we had a test at the last drill. Well, funny how it works out, but when one works out and prepares, if they work to get more fit, the fitness tests are much easier, you perform better.

I got to thinking on that, how I had evaluated my physical condition and fitness, realized I needed to get into better shape, so I did. I also thought about how much more important it was for me to evaluate my spiritual fitness. I also thought about how when I exercised in my spiritual life: with prayer, studying the Bible, praising our Lord, I was much more spiritually fit as well and that when I had spiritual fitness tests in life, I performed better, I responded better, to events in my life. Once upon a time, I was much more fit spiritually and things went well spiritually. When difficulties or challenges arouse, I dealt with them better and they were usually less stressful anyway. God looks out for us when we follow Him and are living the life He wants us to live. Well, since I returned to Christ, I am learning to be more spiritually fit. God does not disappoint, when I put the effort into things, the spiritual fitness improved and tests are easier to pass. Oh, just like the physical fitness tests, some events are more difficult at times. But, if one prepares, one passes the test. Praise the Lord for His help improving my spiritual fitness.

I also thought about how our physical condition and strength, if we train to a certain level, that is the level we reach. We do well at that level. Years ago I used to train for the APFT by doing the events. I ran the 2 miles, did the push ups and sit ups for 2 minutes each and such. Well, I would pass, like I mentioned, but would be finished physically by the time I was done, I had reached my limit. One day after the APFT a buddy and I were talking, well he was in better shape than I and didn’t appear exhausted like I was and I commented on that fact. He asked me how I trained for the test, I told him I ran the 2 miles and such. He then said something that really made me think, he said, “You know, if you train for the standards, you meet the standards but that’s all you can do and it is hard to do it because that is the max you can perform. But, if you train for more than that, do more push ups and sit ups, run 3,4 or 5 miles every day, the test is an easy task.” Simple concept, but eye opening. So, I started doing that, actually did at least twice the distance and other things and guess what, HE WAS RIGHT! The next time the APFT came around it was a piece of cake. I did better than I ever had and wasn’t exhausted when I finished. AMAZING!

Now, why does physical fitness have anything to do with my Christian walk? Well, if we spiritually prepare for normal events, normal life, work, home, etc then the more significant challenges one encounters will spiritually drain you. If you study the Bible and pray, seek God, just enough, then you are spiritually prepared for the normal day to day events, but the sudden, unexpected hardships will cause a set back. One needs to train for more than they think will happen, one needs to spiritually be ready for the really tough times. God will be with you either way, He just makes dealing with it even easier if we are ready before hand.

More thinking, if anyone has ever used a personal trainer, they come up with a plan to help you get physically stronger, they give you goals. Once you reach that goal you can stay there, just train to that level and that’s where you are with physical condition. But, if once you reach that goal, they set another goal for you, push you, get you to reach higher levels of physical conditioning and strength. God does that too. Sometimes, just by making one want to pray, study the Bible and seek Christ more, other times, like a physical trainer puts more weights on the machines, God puts more weights on us, sometimes He helps us get stronger by giving us a harder burden. Nothing more than we can endure, but more than we had previously. That isn’t always a punishment, sometimes it is a reward. He knows you have improved your spiritual strength to a point you can endure more, but Christ still wants more from us. He wants us to continue to grow as Christians. He doesn’t want us to get to an okay level and remain there, He was us to excel and, if that means putting more burdens or hardships on us for a while, He will do so. If we respond to those challenges as we should, by seeking Him, praying, looking to the Bible. WE GROW STRONGER as Christians.

pexels-photo-267559.jpeg

Yeah, I think I want to start training above the standards, I am going to work even harder on my spiritual growth, more time in prayer, more time reading the Bible, more time seeking God. If I have challenges, I will be ready for them, if they seem to be too much, I know He will be there to help me get through. He will never leave me or forsake me. He won’t give me hardships I can’t endure and when the time is right, I can give those burdens to Christ. Praise Jesus what a wonderful God we serve.

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. Philippians 4:13

Fear thou not; for I [am] with thee: be not dismayed; for I [am] thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10

But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew [their] strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; [and] they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:31

The LORD [is] my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he [is] my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father’s God, and I will exalt him. Exodus 15:2

There is so much more on how God is our strength and salvation, with Christ I can do all things. Such powerful words.

Lord, I praise You for all You are. I thank You the lessons You are teaching me and how You do strengthen me and help me when things get tough. How You have helped me get through difficult times, even when I wasn’t serving You, and how now, You make it so much easier to deal with any adversity. I pray You continue to work on me, work in my heart and help me train more for the future challenges. Help me grow spiritually stronger that I can be the Christian warrior You wish me to be in my life. I ask You to strengthen loved ones in their walks with You and draw those not serving You to Christ that they may know the salvation You have given me.

Amen

My Mother’s House

Well, not this house, but you gotta use the photos you can find. But, here I am, back at my Mother’s house again. God smiled on me and instead of me ending up in Texas for 2+ weeks, I am doing my annual training with the National Guard about 30 minutes from my home town. That allows me to stay at her house, try and get some work done on sorting through my parents things to get ready for an estate auction. So, that is a good thing. Now, sometimes, it kind of is a little upsetting, I get to missing them and all, but while there is some bitter, there are so many, special, wonderful memories from marvelous times spent with loved ones in this place. So, I have the happy memories to shift my focus to and that helps a lot. I also find some interesting things at times. My mom loved gadgets. She sometimes liked some of them so much she had to get one for all the kids but forget where she put them and now I sometimes find duplicates of things. It gives me a smile thinking about her being that way.  Some of them are kind of neat, today I came across a crank up radio, still in the package. One of those emergency, in case the power goes out sort of radio with weather stations and such in addition to the normal stations. You crank it a few times to get it charged, it works a while, then will eventually need cranked again to get more power.

As I was messing with the radio a little bit ago, I got to thinking how our faith is a lot of times like that, no matter what, we sometimes need recharged. But, the marvelous thing about faith is all one needs do is pray, study in the Bible a little, listen to some Christian music, go to church. A lot of ways to recharge ones spiritual batteries. But, the magnificent thing about it all is that our spiritual power source never goes out because of storms. In fact, the power available to us in those times of emotional or spiritual storms actually delivers more power, we just need to plug in to the power of Jesus and bang, things get better. Oh, the troubles may or may not go away, but they sure are easier to deal with when Christ is by our sides!

And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Matthew 28:18

To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace. Luke 1:79

And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 2 Corinthians 12:9

I especially like the last one, strength is like power, and when our power is drained, our batteries are weak, His strength is made perfect, and He will then strengthen us. What a glorious God we serve!

Lord, I worship You and glorify Your name. I thank You for being our power and our strength when we are weak. That we have an eternal power source available, all we need do is to worship, praise, pray to You and You give us all the power and strength we need. I ask You to continue Your work in me, strengthen me to continue Your work. Give me the words, and the wisdom with which to use them. Show me Your will and Your plan for my life. I pray You work in the hearts of loved ones to draw them to You, show them Your plans for them as well. I thank You for all the blessings and mercy.

Amen

Thanks so much for reading my blog. Some messages are a little simpler, but in some ways, the simple ones really show me a lot of things I know, but somewhat forgot. I hope someone else gets a blessing from this and want to remind you all to be a blessing to someone, every chance you get.
