I want to see!!!

looking

It’s a mild winter day here today which is quite welcome after the sub-zero temperatures a few days ago, but as they say here, “If you don’t like the weather just wait, it will change in a day or two.” That ends up being quite true often, in the last 3 days there has been a close to 70 degree difference. But, I digress and now, back on topic: with the milder weather I was out on the porch looking to see if there was any wildlife in the fields: deer, turkey or most anything really. I was thinking that I would like to see some deer or turkey out there. I enjoy seeing them play in the fields.

I want to see. I want to see the weather get better; I want to see the wildlife. BUT, more than those things, I want to see the blessings He has in store for me. I want to see what it is like to be in the presence of Christ. I want to see and experience more of the fruits of the Spirit. I want to see more of the perfect love He has in store for us all. I have seen some of the blessings and what He has for me. I have felt what it is like to be in His presence but I guess I am greedy, because I want to see again.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Galatians 5:22-23

In order to see and experience those things, and all the other blessings Christ has in store for me I have to seek Him.

7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

Matthew 7:7-8

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.   Matthew 6:33

I need to seek God first, and, then He will show me the path for me. He will bless me as He has planned to bless me. He will show me the gifts He wishes me to have and experience all He has in store for me.

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.        James 1:17

I will seek Him, but I need to seek God for Him and His righteousness, I need to seek His kingdom. For that, I will be rewarded with blessings I cannot fathom. He will show me all I ask and more. I just need to remember that sometimes, patience is necessary. Waiting for Him to do what He plans for me if I prove myself faithful. What an amazing God we serve.

But if we hope for that we see not, [then] do we with patience wait for [it].     Romans 8:25

My Lord, I praise You. Thank You for the blessings I have received, Thank You for the blessings to come. I pray in the name of Jesus that I learn the patience and faith to wait on You and that You continue to help me seek You and to know the heart of Christ. Help me strive to serve You first. I ask You to draw us all closer to You that we may know the blessings of Your forgiveness and mercy. I thank You for the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross and for His defeat over death that made our redemption possible. I pray for those that are suffering, whether financially, physically, emotionally or in any other way and who are yearning to see the blessings You have in store for each of us.

Amen

I hope all have a blessed day and that you are a blessing to someone else as well.

X Ray vision

XRay_Specs_cartoon

I saw a posting on social media that showed pictures about the gimmick and novelty items one could buy from ads in magazines and such in the past. One item was X ray glasses. Well, thinking on that, how they supposedly would allow the user to see through things and how if they actually believed the ad they were being deceived but people will buy a lot of things. X ray glasses got me to thinking about X rays. I look at quite a few X rays at work and unlike the glasses, they do allow me to see through things and inside a person. I am able to see bones and organs. Depending on the type of X ray or imaging study such as ultrasound or MRI used, I can see some pretty amazing detail inside the body. I can see fractures in bones, a lot of diseases of the lungs, heart, kidneys, intestines, brain, blood vessels and the list goes on. It truly amazes me how man has developed all the different technology we have in order to see inside the body.

One technology we do not have is something that allows us to see inside the minds, hearts and souls of others. I have had people tell me they can get to know someone and know their nature, whether they have a good or bad heart, if they are honest, if they are lying, and many other things about the person’s character. Well, I have tried, I thought I could understand people but nope, not so much. I have been misled often and as I reflect on such experiences I realize that I bear a lot of the blame for convincing myself that someone was what I wanted them to be and I didn’t keep my mind open to other possibilities about the character of an individual.

God can see into the heart, mind, soul and see the intention of others. He gives the gift of discernment to some. My mother had that gift. I think I have that gift, but other times I am not so sure; maybe I do, but maybe I fail to use it allowing my human thoughts and emotions to interfere with what God is wanting me to see or know about a situation or a person. There have been times that I felt that God was showing me something about a situation and I have tried to help others and I did help them see things that they needed to see. With very rare exceptions it has been when a person was talking to me about something and asked for my thoughts and after a little time to try to process the information and say a little prayer asking for God’s help in the matter I have been able to give them some things to consider. At times the things I thought were, well soft thoughts, vague impressions but not in my mind certainties, but well, I don’t know sort of impressions, sort of like some art that if one looks from a distance they can see something but if you look too closely it all becomes a little blurry. Other times I have seen things that were very clear. I find myself at times wondering if it is just me and my thoughts or if it is from God. When that occurs, is it me trying to impose my personal thoughts? Is it God truly showing me something? When I doubt what I feel about something is it because it isn’t from God or is it from God and Satan is trying to cause me the doubt so I won’t use what God is showing me? Well, THAT is what I am going to need to pray about. If it is a spiritual gift from God then I want to use it to help others so will need to ask to be better able to know it is from Him and to not have the doubt present. If it is not from God, then I hope He will show me that He has another gift for me.

Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

1 John 4:1

But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, [even] those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.  Hebrews 5:14

For the word of God [is] quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and [is] a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.  Hebrews 4:12

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all [men] liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. James 1:5

But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know [them], because they are spiritually discerned.  1 Corinthians 2:14

There are a lot more scriptures that speak to discernment but I think these pretty much cover what He is trying to help me know. That I need to look harder at situations, people, myself, and ask for His help in knowing the truth of the matter.

Lord, I praise Your Holy Name and am so grateful for the gift of salvation that I was given. You are truly a great and awesome God. I pray in the name of Jesus that I am quicker to seek You for the wisdom and knowledge about things and that I do not allow myself to interfere with what You would have me see. If You are showing me things to help others, then I pray that You also give me the knowledge on how to share what You want them to know so that they receive the message they need. I ask that You help me know Your will and Your desire for me that I not push my way into things that are not from You. I also pray for loved ones that You draw them to You and show them the love, mercy and forgiveness that is waiting for them which You paid for by sending Your Son Jesus to die for our sins. Thank You for bringing me to You.

Amen

Thank you all for your time. I hope something I said blesses someone and that all are able to be a blessing to someone else today.

Someone is always watching. GOD is ALWAYS watching.

The other day my grandson had to go to ball practice. I was off and his folks were both at work, so guess who was voluntold to take him….YUP, you got it, me! No problems, I kinda like the kid, so I was glad to do it. Well, they live a couple miles from us out in the country, so I was driving him down and when we got to town the light was red so I pulled into the left turn lane to wait for the light to change. We had the windows down as it was a really nice day. A car pulled into the right hand turn lane and then another pulled up into the straight lane. The guy in the lane next to us just started screaming and cussing at the guy in the other turn lane. This was language as bad or worse than anything I ever heard in the military. My grandson turned to look and see what was going on, and then he turned towards me with a funny expression on his face. About then the light changed so we turned and headed to the ball field. As we drove he told me the man next to us was a deacon in his church and proceeded to say that was almost like the pastor, and how come he was cussing so much because preachers shouldn’t do that. I explained that we didn’t know what had happened before then to make him mad, but he still should not have behaved like that. I also explained that Christians aren’t perfect, but we can be forgiven. We just have to repent, confess to Christ and ask for forgiveness. I also told him that we shouldn’t judge, any judgement will come from God.

But, it also got me to thinking that while we can be forgiven, Christians have a responsibility to Christ to do our best to control our anger and our actions, including our words as people are always watching, nonChristians will judge us and Christ because of Christians behavior.

19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
20 For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.

James 1:19-20

[He that is] slow to wrath [is] of great understanding: but [he that is] hasty of spirit exalteth folly.  Proverbs 14:29

If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion [is] vain. James 1:26

The scripture is pretty straight forward on controlling emotions, especially anger, and the actions or words associated with failing to do so. There are many other verses that eal with this issue as well.

But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. Colossians 3:8

Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. Ephesians 4:29

Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be. James 3:10

Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.  Matthew 15:11

26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. Hebrews 10:26-27

The fear of the LORD [is] to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate. Proverbs 8:13

It is pretty obvious that foul language is not pleasing to the Lord. He expects our actions and our words, to reflect a positive image of Christians, and therefore of Christ through our actions. Foul language discredits they who use it, and Christ.

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things [are] honest, whatsoever things [are] just, whatsoever things [are] pure, whatsoever things [are] lovely, whatsoever things [are] of good report; if [there be] any virtue, and if [there be] any praise, think on these things. Philippians 4:8

And, no matter who else may, or may not, see us as we go about our days, when we do well and when we sin, God always sees us.

The eyes of the LORD [are] in every place, beholding the evil and the good. Proverbs 15:3

I have had more than my share of failures in keeping my anger in check and holding my tongue. I am much better than I was before, my language is much better, my ability to avoid getting angry is better as well. Not thanks to me, but to God for the improvements.

Lord, I praise You and thank You for the blessings You give me and the lessons I learn while I study Your word. And, the opportunities You give me to try to help my grandson (and me) understand Your wishes for us. I pray in Jesus name that You help me remember that I am always an ambassador for Christ and that I need to, even if no one else sees, remember to always be the person I should be and not succumb to anger, that I make sure to use the right words and not speak out of anger. I ask that You help me continue to learn the heart and mind of Christ and that You continue helping me be the person You want. Draw my love ones to Jesus that they may know You as well. Teach us all Your true will and way for us.

Amen

Thanks for your time. Have a most blessed day. And, of course, try to be a blessing to others as well.
