Sorrow

Emotion-5

Have you ever looked at someone and known by the look in their eyes that they were unhappy? I don’t mean not happy at the moment but unhappy with their life and by appearance they are extremely sorrowful and emotionally in, well, pain. Something in their life is not good. Maybe they realize it and know what that is but maybe they don’t. They are just unhappy. Oh, there may be moments of happiness but those are few compared to the hours, days, weeks and months of sadness. It seems to me it would almost be like drowning and managing to get a quick breath of air only to sink underwater again. Sometimes when I have seen people like that they seem to have given up hope for true joy. Many times people in such circumstances start out looking for happiness and joy only to realize once they get what they thought would bring happiness instead brings sorrow. This happens many ways: use of alcohol, drugs, pornography, pursuit of wealth, nicer clothes or nicer home are a few examples. But by trying to find happiness in those things one finds the opposite: health and financial problems from using drugs and alcohol, mental issues and relationship problems from watching pornography, relationship problems from being so motivated by wealth one loses their family, the financial difficulties many face when spending too much on clothes, housing or other things all bring more long lasting pain and suffering than any joy obtained. The shattered self esteem that goes with trying to have one thing but realizing the cost and impact on one’s life is not worth any benefit that can be realized.

Too many people are sad for a variety of reasons and find ways to try to decrease the sadness but the worldly pursuits will never give true joy. Those things cannot fill a void that these people have in themselves. They cannot find joy from outside themselves and if a person is not happy with themselves, they can’t be happy with things. There are many ways to find joy and peace for oneself, but the only way to find true joy and peace is through Christ. I found myself in similar circumstances to many, for a variety of reasons I had a lot of sorrow and pain in my life, some things helped but even the things that helped did not give the true joy I found when I quit fighting against God and came to Him to confess I was a sinner and asked for His forgiveness. And, just like that, He gave it to me. Oh, there are times I am not fully joyful, there are times when I have pain and sorrow for one thing or another. It is part of human existence to have pain and sorrow at times. But now, those are minimal and the joy is the vast, vast majority of the time. When I am facing difficult times I have Christ to help me through the hard times and the joy and peace of knowing what waits for me in eternity with Him.

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.  Revelation 21:4

For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time [are] not worthy [to be compared] with the glory which shall be revealed in us.  Romans 8:18

The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.  Proverbs 10:22

But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.  1 Peter 4:13

He tells us there will be sorrows, but He also tells us that when we have sorrows, we will have Him there to take our pain, as Christ did on the cross and that all sorrow and pain will be replace with joy, not just joy but exceeding joy. What a magnificent Lord we serve.

Lord, I praise You for all You are and thank You for the joy You give me and for giving me hope and comfort in times of sorrow. More than anything I thank You and praise You for the salvation and forgiveness that Christ gave Himself for that I would be able to have that joy and life eternal. I pray that You show all those in pain and sorrow, for whatever reason,  that they do not need to suffer and hurt, no reason for them to be miserable but that instead there is a reason to rejoice and that You offer salvation from whatever situation in their lives that cause the suffering and that You will help them find a way out of those circumstances and that You will give them joy in times of pain and sorrow. I pray in the name of Jesus that anyone going through hard times learn to look to You for their joy and salvation from the sorrows they are enduring. I pray that You draw us all to You and that we learn how to glorify Christ in all we do and show us all the forgiveness and mercy You have for us.

Amen

Thanks to everyone for stopping by and taking time to read my post. I hope all have a blessed and joyful day and that you find a way to spread your joy and to bless someone else today.

The auction is underway, but other work continues.

I mentioned a few days ago that my parents’ estate auction had started, which sort of ends one chore with which I have been contending for a long time. It is a relief, but also increases stress with worrying about not receiving enough bids to offset costs, praying  for the best and leaving it in God’s hands. I know that by doing so He will make sure it generates what He knows is needed. That helps that part, but it is also somewhat disconcerting and creates some sadness since once the things are gone, some of the tangible things will no longer be here. Somewhat like losing a part of them. I give praise to the Lord for the time I had with them.

But, even though that chore is, for the most part, done there are other things that still need done: keeping the yard mowed, maintaining and repairing the house, making sure all associated expenses are kept paid, and several other things. Today, I sit in the house taking a break from yard work at their house and reflect. Happy moments, sad moments and many other experiences over the years shared with them and others. I know, that regardless of if or when I sell the house, the fact that the other things being sold in the auction will be gone soon, there is nothing that can remove those memories. I thank God for all the blessings He gave me during that time. I mourn the losses, but realize all was somehow in His plan.

So, as I prepare to finish the mowing and try to decide what other things I will take care of at the house today and tomorrow I praise Him, thank Him and look forward to whatever comes next.

24 For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?
25 But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.
26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Romans 8:24-28

32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Matthew 6:32-33

Lord,

I praise You and thank You for the comfort of knowing that YOU know my needs and my concerns and that You will be sure that I have all I need. I thank You for helping me learn how to seek Christ and the hunger to know and understand the heart and mind of Jesus. I pray in the name of Jesus that You keep that fire burning and help make me the vessel that You wish for me to be for Christ’s glory. Please, teach me to think more like Jesus and to see others through His eyes.

Amen

thanks for the visit, Please, have a blessed day and try to be a blessing to others.

You are what you eat!

Unhealthy_snacks_in_cart.jpg

I have been trying to be more careful about dietary choices, exercising more and such to lose weight and that has been successful, praise God for His help in keeping cravings down. I love sweets so that has been a challenge. BUT, there are other things that can make one gain weight as well. Too much fat in the diet, good food but too much of it, fried foods (kinda too much fat and other ingredients that make it not great) too many sweets, etc. Made me think about how they sometimes say you are what you eat. If you eat unhealthy foods, you become unhealthy and if you make healthy food choices you will be more healthy. In the past, I made unhealthy choices on what I fed my soul. I fed it anger, bitterness, sorrow and pain and, I felt that way. Spiritually and emotionally drained, no joy, only negative feelings. But now, I feed my soul with His word, seeking God, praying, rejoicing and again, to no surprise, I am happy, healthy, spiritually fit. Like my physical health I need to get even more healthy, but I am much more so that I once was and will be getting better as I continue my spiritually healthy diet and working out my prayer muscles. I praise the Lord for the help He has, and is, giving me to keep me on track to not only maintain, but to improve, my  relationship with Him.

The same thing applies to life in general, if one lives with or associates with people that exude hate, anger and bitterness, they become hateful, angry and bitter but if they live with love, compassion and joy they learn to love, care and to be happy.  Oh there will be days that the happiest person has sad things happen but they don’t stay sad. If you feed yourself spiritually, you will be spiritually healthier. Spend time in prayer, reading the scripture and with other Christians at church and elsewhere. You will also be more spiritual in the process, a better servant and example of Christ on this world.

And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.  Revelation 21:6

22 And as they did eat, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake it, and gave to them, and said, Take, eat: this is my body.
23 And he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them: and they all drank of it.
24 And he said unto them, This is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many.
25 Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until that day that I drink it new in the kingdom of God.

Mark 14:22-25

Lord, I am always in awe of You and the way You teach me things. I thank You for the lessons. I ask that You help me continue to grow in You and that I feed myself the good food and the water of life that You offer and avoid the things that will interfere with my walk with Christ. Draw us all to You and work in the hearts and minds of my loved ones to show them Your path for them and the way to salvation for those not saved. That all they need do is confess their sins and acknowledge Jesus as Your Son that sacrificed for all our sins.

In Jesus Name, Amen

Thank you for stopping by today. Remember to feed your soul with only good. Avoid the negative, if it seems unavoidable, spend more time in prayer and study of His Word. I hope all have a blessed day, and get the chance to bless someone else as well.
