Sometimes all you can do is pray. (BUT…THAT is a lot!)

I think we all know people that go through hard times. I deal with a lot of people: family, friends, patients and others. It seems I have always been one that people feel comfortable talking to about a lot of things that they wouldn’t talk to a lot of people about. People I barely know would tell me a lot of personal things. Usually it seemed they were sort of either just needing to talk to allow them to think through things themselves but other times they were looking for advice. I am not really fond of giving advice because if it doesn’t work as well as they like, I end up being blamed and even if not blamed, I don’t like thinking I did something that caused them hardships of some sort. But, as it goes, I do hear things that sometimes I don’t really have a way to help them….well, other than pray for them. And, as I see it, that is way better than giving advice or helping other ways. Prayer is a powerful thing. Oh, I will share some scripture if I can, but sometimes, whether I tell them or not, I pray for them. I always hope they will pray for themselves too.

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.  Philippians 4:6

Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.  Romans 8:26

But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.  Matthew 6:6

Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.  Hebrews 4:16

Pray without ceasing.  1 Thessalonians 5:17

There are so many verses that talk about praying. Whether for financial, physical, emotional or any other hardship, prayer and earnestly seeking God will help. God will help.

Lord, I worship You and thank You that we can come to You in good times and bad. Praising You in good times and thanking You for the blessings, grace and mercy You give us. I praise You for being a God that helps in time of need also. Lord, I know there are so many people out there that are hurting: physically, emotionally, financially and in ways I cannot even imagine. But, You know their needs before they even speak of them. I know many people with so many different things that need Your hand in their lives. I know there are far more needs than I know about too. I pray in the name of Jesus that You reach those people and help them through the hard times they face. That You give them the peace of mind in knowing that You will help them. Help them find the strength they need to face the hardships and the strength and courage as You lead them through their hard times, showing them the way but not only the way out of the difficult times and situations but the way to salvation and the true richness of redemption and the blessings that are in store for them if they follow You and take the steps that You show them to take. Show them all the way to forgiveness, through the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross and paid for with His blood. Draw us all to You as You help us through life. Teach us how to pray as we should and how to be the people that You want us to be for Your Glory.

Amen

Well, I thank everyone who visits and I hope that something I say blesses you. Please, try to be a blessing to someone else as well.

His love endures.

god loves

God is so amazing! I think about things I have done, and while not as bad as some, worse than others. BUT, really doesn’t matter how one sins, since sin is sin, and we are all sinners.

For [there is] not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not. Ecclesiates 7:20

Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:  Romans 5:12

And, because of that sin, we deserve punishment, we deserve eternal damnation, but God does not want that for us.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.  John 3:16

He gave us Christ, so that we don’t have to be punished for the sins we commit, IF we confess those sins and ask for forgiveness.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.  1 John 1:9

23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

Romans 3:23-26

We are justified and made righteous. Not because of us, but in spite of ourselves, through the forgiveness, grace and mercy Christ paid for on the cross. Its there waiting for us…..all we have to do is ask for it. Once it is asked for, it is given….and we are made new and perfect in His sight.

O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. Psalms 118:29 (KJV)

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever.  Psalms 136:1 (ESV)

Now, if that is NOT AMAZING, nothing comes close. He loves us with a love that endures forever. His love does not falter because we fail. He loves us in spite of our sins and has gone to the furthest of measures to give us a way to be forgiven. I stand in awe of our Lord. A love that endures all the pain we cause Him; a love that persists no matter what we do; a love that will forgive us even though we turn our backs on Him.

How would the world be if we all had that kind of love or even a fraction of it? Definitely would be a better place. I aspire to have that kind of love, that kind of forgiveness. I will strive to love the way God loves us.

A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.  John 13:34

Lord, I thank You for the forgiveness and love You give me. Things I don’t deserve, but You still give it. I praise Your Holy Name. I pray in the name of Jesus that You work in my heart and help me to have that kind of love. I ask that You teach me to know and live the heart of Christ. Please, draw me and my loved ones closer to You. Teach us all to have that kind of love and to have the forgiveness that You give us. Draw us all to You that we may all know the salvation You have for us.

Amen

I hope all have a blessed day and weekend. And, as always, please try to be a blessing to someone else.

Thank you for your visit.

Is it too late?

toolate.jpg

I was having a conversation with someone at work the other day and they commented about wanting to finish a degree, currently this person has an Associates degree but wants to get a Bachelor’s degree. But, as we talked, age came up and she said it 2 years and she would be X years old and then asked me if I thought it was dumb or if it was too late. Well, I related to her about my deciding to get my Bachelor’s degree and then go to med school and how so many “friends”, coworkers, family and others liked to tell me that it would take at least 8 years for college and med school, then residency in addition to that would be 3 or more years, usually adding, “do you know how old you will be in 11 years?” Well, as it is, I do happen to be able to do math and I knew my age, so yes, I knew how old I would be in 11 years (or in my coworkers case, 2 years) and that being said, I also realized that had I waited, I would in 1, 2 or however many years later, think about almost starting and then not doing it, I would have been that much older when I got it done. SO….I went, and I told her that if it is a goal she has, then waiting only delays things and since nurses with a BSN make so much more than with an ADN that it would help her financially plus give her other options for work that ADNs don’t have at this time.

SO, to answer her question: No, it is not too late! But, that question comes up a lot of times, my grandson is struggling some with math, and its because he takes too long on tests and then gets in a hurry, so doesn’t do well on the exams. But, he made a comment about how its halfway through the school year and its too late now. Well, no, because of one problem or another, things may be an uphill climb to get to his grade where it should be, but its not too late. If someone says or does something hurtful to another, can that be undone, no, but it can be forgiven and moved past…so, its not too late. Some even say that it is too late for them to have a relationship with God. They did this, that or whatever and start to feel that God won’t want them or forgive them. God will always forgive. As long as one is still alive, it is not too late.

15 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.  Ephesians 5:15-17  (KJV)

So He doesn’t want us to be foolish, He wants us to be wise with our time, to learn God’s will and to do it, but He doesn’t say it is too late. Like the father in the parable of the Prodigal Son, God is waiting for us to come back and will greet us with love and mercy.

Lord, Thank You for the lessons, for reminding me that it is never too late to come to You and to do Your will for us. I pray in the name of Jesus that You continue to teach me that we should never give up on anyone or think it is too late. And, while it is never too late, the sooner one takes the steps they should take, the better served they, and YOU will be. I pray that You help me be the person You want me to be so I can be an example of Christ’s impact in a person’ life. I ask that You draw my family and loved ones to You and show them all Your plan for them.

Amen

Thank You all for your time today. I hope all have a blessed day and are able to be a blessing to others as well.

Happy New Year!

newyear

As 2018 ends and 2019 begins we all face the new year and new, different experiences as time matches forward. As I ponder on the coming year I also reflect on the old and i would say that I’ve had a lot happen: some good, some FANTASTIC, some not good and some terrible. I’ve seen and dealt with things I never expected to have happen. But even in bad, there can be god found. It was during the worst that I came to know Christ again. Oh, I’d always known Him but when faced with some difficult times that I could never have dealt with on my own, He was there for me, as He always had been, just waiting on me to call out to Him, ask for and receive forgiveness and salvation. He made me a new person.

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.   2 Corinthians 5:17

I think of mistakes I’ve made, on what can I do to correct and never repeat them and how I can be the man Jesus wishes me to be for His glory. I think on the bad, yes, but as lessons on life but more than reflecting on the bad, I rejoice on the good God has given me.

But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19

Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.  Luke 6:38

He can do that for everyone. If you find yourself in situations that you know are not right; if you realize you have done the wrong thing; if you know that you displeased God in anyway or somehow hurt yourself or others; He is waiting to help you. He won’t force you to do what He wants, but when you are ready to do what you know He wants, He is there to strengthen you so you are able to do that which you should. His love endures despite what one does. He is there, patiently waiting and when you seek Christ and His help, you will receive such blessings you will wonder why you didn’t do things sooner.

And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.  John 1:16

I think all of us, since we are all sinners, should talk to God, ask Him for forgiveness and acknowledge that Jesus, His son, died and was resurrected that we may have that forgiveness and the salvation it brings.

4 But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,
5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
6 Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

Titus 3:4-7

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.  John 14:6

9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

Romans 10:9-11

Lord, I worship You and ask forgiveness of my sins. I thank You for Jesus who you sent to die for my sins and to be resurrected to defeat death and to give me a path to redemption. I pray in the name of Jesus that You help me be the man You would have me to be in the coming year and every year after. Help me see Your truths and make the changes I need to make to take the path You wish for me to take. Help me be a representative of Your live, mercy, forgiveness and grace. Teach me to know and live the heart and mind if Christ. Please draw my loved ones to You as well that they too may know what wonderful things You have planned for them if they just seek You and trust You as they follow your will for them.

Amen

I hope all have the full measure of the blessings He has in store for you and that you remember to be a blessing to someone else as well.

He forgives!

forgive

Well, it may seem weird, but bear with me. I was flipping channels and came across the movie Tombstone. It’s several years old, about, surprise, surprise, Wyatt Earp and his time in Tombstone, AZ. It was a dramatized, historical telling of the events. We all know that Hollywood takes some liberties with the facts, but the big points about things were pretty accurate. But, one of the scenes I can’t say is, or is not, based on fact or just Hollywood’s way of telling about a relationship that Wyatt Earp had with a woman. But, in one scene there has been some gunfights with an outlaw gang and the woman he was in love with was on a stage coach that was robbed and a friend of hers was killed, shortly after that the stage coach stopped to water the horses at a ranch where Wyatt and his friends were staying. He saw her and went out to talk and he said, “I’m sorry about your friend. I…..” as he started to try to come up with an excuse or reason but she interrupted him and said, “I forgave you as soon as you said it.” Now, that got me to thinking how God forgives us instantly, just like that, as soon as we say we are sinners and ask for His forgiveness, He gives it to us. We don’t need to explain or rationalize; we are just forgiven. In addition to that, we are given salvation, redeemed of all our sins, and granted life eternal through the sacrifice Christ made on the cross.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.  1 John 1:9

As a human, it is sometimes not easy to forgive that quickly, the human in us likes to hang on to the slights and hurts for a while before we forgive. The human in us wants to hold a grudge, at least for a while, to somehow make others pay for the wrongs they did us when they apologize. That is not what Jesus would do, or wants us to do. He wants us to be like Him and forgive, instantly and unconditionally. I wish I could say I have always been exactly how He wanted to me in that regard (and in other ways as well) but I am human and because of that, I have in the past, held onto the hurt caused by whatever action and not forgiven immediately, fully and unconditionally. I am much better than I was in that regard because I have learned that the feelings that keep me from forgiving unconditionally hurt me more than anyone. Those feelings interfere with my walk with Christ. So, I do better than I once did.

And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.  Ephesians 4:32

All that being said, I hope anyone out there that may have done me wrong, before you say it, or if you never say it, I forgive you. I pray that any that feel that I did them wrong, forgive me as well.

And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.  Mark 11:25

Lord, I thank You for the forgiveness You give so quickly, even though I don’t deserve it. I thank Christ for His sacrifice that made it all possible. I pray in the name of Jesus that You help me better learn how to forgive as You forgive, immediately and completely. I thank You for helping me be better at it and helping me understand the benefit it gives me to forgive as You instruct us. I also ask that You help others understand forgiveness as well and that You help them forgive as You do. I pray that You draw loved ones to You and help us all learn to serve You better and to be more like You.

Amen

Thank you all for your time. I hope all are blessed somehow today and have a chance to be a blessing to someone else too.

The Christmas Gift!

Christmas gift

As I am thinking about Christmas gifts, those I have bought, those I have received. Some I received, I really loved, some, not so much. Some were fun to unwrap (aren’t they always fun to unwrap?) but once you saw the gift, it wasn’t as good as you expected. Others were fun to unwrap, and even better than you expected. I have watched as others opened gifts, with the expressions on their face telling exactly their thoughts about the gift, whether happy about it or disappointed. I watch a little closer on gifts that I bought, hoping that the recipient enjoys it and is pleased.

But, as I think about Christmas gifts that I have both given and received, some will forever be burned in my memory, some the unwrapping seems a blur but the gift is remembered in marked detail, others I remember unwrapping but don’t remember the gift, and, even others I can describe in detail the wrapping, how I unwrapped it, either tearing the wrapping off quickly or taking my time and unwrapping slowly to somehow prolong the joy. I can also describe in extreme detail some of the gifts, who gave it to me, the year, exactly where I was when I received the gift. I can remember similar details about others opening gifts I gave them.

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.         James 1:17

For the wages of sin [is] death; but the gift of God [is] eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23

8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Ephesians 2:8-9

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.  John 3:16

Yet, as important of a human interaction as gift exchanging is for people, I think about the greatest gift I have ever received, my salvation. What a priceless gift that is and it was paid for in a currency that I can not even begin to put a true value on, the blood and suffering of Jesus. But, He bought me the greatest gift of all time. Yet, in the gift exchange, I cheated Him. I gave Him my sins, my failings, my hardships and He took them gladly. WHAT AN AMAZING GOD WE SERVE!

Lord, I cannot find the words to thank You enough for the gift of salvation that is the most wonderful gift I could ever receive. I praise Your Holy Name. I pray in the name of Jesus that You help me always remember that costly gift that I was given in exchange for giving You something of no value. I ask that You work in the hearts and minds of loved ones that they remember the gifts of true value and forget all the meaningless gifts that are temporary and of this world. Draw us all closer to You that we all enjoy the fullness of Your gifts.

Amen

Well, it is Christmas eve, I pray all have a blessed day and share their blessings with others.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!

God is a TAKER!

The last few years and especially the last year has brought a lot of changes in my life. I have had some good things and some bad things happen. I have lost loved ones which, while a part of life, is always difficult. I have had things happen I never expected. But as I was dealing with these things and feeling lost and alone I started talking with God and He answered my prayers.

As I reflect on all He has done for me I realize that even though I always thought He was a giver but I was SO WRONG! God is a taker! God took so much from me that it is hard to imagine. He took pain of loss. He took bitterness. He took anger. He took sorrow and grief. He took my sins. Oh, there are times that I feel sad about losses and that I get upset and angry about things but those things are very infrequent and the sadness over losses is less. There are times I think about my parents and others I have lost and I miss them. But, I am better about thinking about the happier moments.

28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Matthew 11:28-30

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9

Yes, God took and took and took. But, He gave too. He gave me peace, joy, comfort, and most importantly He gave me forgiveness and salvation. He took all the things I had earned and gave me more than I deserved. What an AMAZING GOD!!!

Lord, I thank You for taking so much from me. Taking all the things I needed out of my life and leaving room for the good things You offer. I praise Your name and ask in the name of Jesus that You continue to take from me, that You continue to work on me and help me become the servant Christ wants me to be for His glory. I ask that You draw loved ones closer to You, take from them all the things You took from me and teach us all the truths You want us to know.

Amen

Thank You all for taking a moment to read my blog. I hope something I wrote was a blessing to someone and that you can all find a way to be a blessing to someone else today as well.

Black Friday

black-friday-meme

Thanksgiving is over and, even though places have already had Christmas displays out for weeks, it’s the “official” start of the Christmas shopping season. So, as I write this there are people already at stores or waiting for them to open so the can push, shove, argue and fight to spend money. People who, for a holiday season that is supposed to represent the love God had for us and sent His Son to be amongst us, are willing to show the very worst in human behavior at times. I have seen some pretty abhorrent behavior, and read about far worse than I have seen personally. Then, besides the fights for the special deals, people worry about what to buy, will they be able to afford all they purchase, that they think is what others want. Creating massive debts for themselves in vain, shallow attempts to please themselves or others.

All of that, to “honor” the birth of Christ? I know Christians that behave that way. Black Friday is definitely a dark day for many, it shows how willing people are to get up early, stand in the cold, fight crowds, and in other ways treat one another horribly all out of vanity and greed. I know what I say won’t change society, and there are some who will likely read this, agree, but were out there and will be out again in the future, behaving in a way they know is wrong, just to spend money on gifts. It saddens me to know that people are exactly as they are and even though they do these things “in the spirit of Christmas” they miss the mark. What should be about peace, love, mercy, grace and kindness very rapidly deteriorates to greed, vanity and hostility.

Maybe I am wrong, but I think not. I believe that the behavior that one hears about is completely the opposite of what Christ would have from us. The materialism, greed, maltreatment of others and near frenzy one hears about is contrary to His teaching. The fact that many Christians are out shopping and behaving as badly as others is a sad thing. They have to get the best deals, they are so worried about saving money and getting things cheap that they treat one another horribly.

A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.  John 13:34

For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.        1 Timothy 6:10

He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this [is] also vanity.  Eccleasiastes 5:10

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.   Romans 12:2

15 Love not the world, neither the things [that are] in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
16 For all that [is] in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

1 John 2:15-17

Lord, I praise Your Holy Name and thank You for the blessings. I pray that people understand that the greed and materialism are the opposite of how You want us to live. That the desire for things and the love of money, along with the willingness to do anything to get things or money is not what You want from us. I thank You for reminding me that there are more important things than material items and money. I thank You for the salvation that was not obtained cheaply, that You sent Your son to die on the cross and pay for my redemption with His precious blood. Draw us all to You, teach us how to live the way that You want us to live.

Amen

I pray all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and that the upcoming Christmas season is blessed for all. Please take time to be a blessing to someone else today.

Thanksgiving

thanksgiving

Well, it’s almost Thanksgiving when we here in America celebrate the “founding” of the nation. To be honest that part is not a fond thought for me as I have Native American ancestry and in some ways it is bothersome. But it is a time when we should all stop and reflect back on the past year and think on what we should be thankful for at this time. For Christians, we have something for which to be thankful all day, everyday. The redemption Christ bought for us with His blood.

But, as I reflect on the past 12 months I do have that for which to be thankful; and I am thankful indeed. But in some ways it was an extremely trying year. I had some losses that weren’t easy to bear. I was betrayed by people from whom I would have never expected it. I saw the majority of my parents possessions sold. But regardless of those things I rejoice in the Lord! He is my Redeemer, my Savior, my Hope in seemingly hopeless times. I am thankful for those who, through their actions, I learned or relearned lessons on human nature and that I need only trust Him and not people. I realized that through Him I can overcome amazingly difficult times. Jesus showed me that He was there for me to lean on during those difficult times. The strength He gave me m helped me learn to where I must turn in all things, the good and the bad.

Rejoice in the Lord alway: [and] again I say, Rejoice.  Philippians 4:4

1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;
4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope:
5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

Romans 5:1-5

7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
8 Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;
9 Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:
10 That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:
11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:
12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.

Ephesians 1:7-12

Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.   Romans 15:13

I endured suffering yet as much heartache and pain as I dealt with I did endure. Not because of me but because of Christ in me. And no matter how bad I thought I was suffering I know that the worst I went through and the worst I could ever go through pales in comparison to what Christ suffered on the cross on my behalf. He did so willingly and out of love for us all. He took the burden from me and gave me a lighter load.

God has taught me so much in the last year and even though He has I know I have much more to learn about living for Him. I’m definitely still a work in progress.

Lord,  I praise Your Holy Name and come to You today to thank You for the many blessings, some I knew were blessings and some I only realized we’re blessing after you taught me some truths. I thank You for the good and the bad that has. One my way. Through Christ all things work for my benefit. Even the things I don’t realize are benefitting me. I pray in Jesus name that You bless us all and use the good and bad to draw us too You.  Heal and comfort those who are sick, show those living in sin and outside of Your plans for them how to become reconciled with You through Jesus.  Help all learn the true path You wish is to follow. Thank You again for all the blessings.  Mercy. Forgiveness. And grace.

Amen

and to those who managed to get through my drivel. Thank you for your time. Have a blessed day and try to be a blessing to someone else today.

Never give up on a dream just because of the time it will take to accomplish it. Time will pass anyway. Earl Nightengale

dreambed

A few years ago (okay, more than a few) as I was talking to coworkers and friends while I was starting on college classes in order to obtain my bachelors degree and go to medical school I heard more times than I can remember, “That will take at least 8 years. Do you know how old you will be in 8 years if you go to medical school?” Well, my response was, “The same age I will be in 8 years if I don’t go to school.” There were some who were very supportive, but others that were not supportive, maybe due to concern for me or out of jealousy, that I don’t know. But, there were some who did try to discouraging me from pursuing my education.

While it is true that it would (did) take 8 years to get my bachelor’s degree and finish medical school and yes, that is a long time, it is also true that had I not done it I would have had frustration with myself when that 8 years was up if I didn’t put the effort into it. Now, 20 years after graduating medical school the time and effort was worth it.

How many times have I, or others, NOT done things because it would take too much time, it will be a week, a month, a year, several years……but then complained, at least to themselves for not doing it. There are a lot of things that take time but if one has a dream, giving up on a dream because of the effort and time required only causes frustration in the long run. And, if the dream remains, it only delays what one needs to do to achieve that goal. And, my life has shown me that the really good things do not come easily and require a lot more effort while those things that come easily, are rarely as good as the things one works harder to obtain. I know personally, I don’t appreciate what comes to me easily, but if it is something that requires effort, I value it much more.

And the king said unto Araunah, Nay; but I will surely buy it of thee at a price: neither will I offer burnt offerings unto the LORD my God of that which doth cost me nothing. So David bought the threshingfloor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver.   2 Samuel 24:24

Sometimes, God puts a dream or vision in our minds to do something and sometimes that thing will require a lot of dedication and hard work. Some will start down a path then give up soon after starting, not wanting to devote the time required because it will take too long. Others will start and part way through, sometimes very near the finish line, they give up not willing to put forth anymore effort. God uses goals and dreams to test our determination. Sadly, some fail the test.

1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Hebrews 12:1-2

He wants us to remain steadfast and true, as dedicated to Him as He is to us. He wants us to strive to win and once we have our sights on something He does not want us to surrender and quit and that we fight for what we believe Christ has instructed us to do.

24 Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.
25 And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.
26 I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:
27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

1 Corinthians 9:24-27

God puts dreams, wishes and aspirations into our hearts and minds so that we can accomplish things for His glory. He does so to test our faith, to help us become stronger in that faith and trust in Him to see us through all He set before us. He doesn’t want us to give up on something because it isn’t easy. He wants us to learn the value of working hard, for Him, for ourselves and for others. He tries to teach us patience by making some things more difficult and making us wait. All those things help us become better Christians and better servants for Jesus. He wants us to lean on Him when things appear too difficult for us, when it appears that things are not possible due to the effort and time it will take and when we feel weak. Christ will strengthen us, all we need to do is seek Him and ask for His help.

And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.   Mark 10:27

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.  Philippians 4:13

Lord, I thank You for helping me stay the course to reach the goals You put in my heart in the past and for helping me see the finish line and purpose for running various races in my life. I praise You for teaching me patience and dedication. I thank You for showing me other goals to help me be a better person and better Christian and servant. I pray You use my efforts to better glorify Jesus and the sacrifice He made for my forgiveness. That You keep me strong as I follow You and help me to become worthy of all You have done for me. I pray in the name of Jesus that You help others see that regardless of the difficulty we see, all things are possible through Christ who strengthens us. That You will give us the strength and dedication to finish that which you put before us and keep us in Your arms to make all things possible. Help us all see the true plan You have for us.

Amen

Thank to all for your time today. I hope You have a great day and that you are able to be a blessing to someone else.
