He WILL Help!

Isaiah_41-13.jpg

Some days are a struggle. Everyone has such days, struggling with jobs, lack of jobs, lack of money, decisions, marriages, family issues, problems with cars and houses. Something is always going to happen that causes stress, worry, fear, indecision, health, loss of loved ones. The list is endless. Today was one of those days for me. A couple things going on, one is trying to make the final decision about the job offer I have mentioned previously. Its a great job for a lot of reasons, but there are reasons to consider not taking it. I will have to say that I have struggled a lot with the decision. I have spent a lot of time in prayer and seeking God’s guidance. The decision will have to be made soon and every time I think I know what I should do, something makes me question whichever choice I am thinking I should take. I was at a convenience store and overheard a lady talking about her Grammy being in hospice and not sure how long she would last and what all was going on with that. Well, for one thing, that is what I called my grandmother and I thought about her. Then, I thought about my parents, sitting with them as their lives were slipping away. It sort of opened old wounds. I needed a word from God to remind me that He would help me through all the things with which I am dealing. So, I looked at King James Bible online and this was the verse of the day. And, it was just what I needed to hear. Regardless of the hardships, sorrows and pains of life He will help me. So many amazing promises, promises that He KEEPS! What a glorious God we serve.

Lord, I praise You and thank You for giving me the words I needed to hear. I am constantly in awe of all You are and how you work in my life. I thank You for the sacrifice of Your Son so my sins would be forgiven. I ask in the name of Jesus that You help me make the right choice, about the job, about everything and that You help me keep Christ first in my life. I pray for this woman and her family as they deal with a difficult circumstance, please be with them and give them comfort. I also pray that You continue to draw me and my loved ones to You that we all know the salvation You hold out for us. Show us all the true paths in our lives You have planned for us and any that are on the wrong path help them find the true path and show them the way to Your light.

Amen

Did you choose wisely or poorly?

grail.png

I was watching a movie with my grandson the other day. He loves the Indiana Jones films and we happened to be watching Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. That’s the one where he and his father are searching for the Holy Grail. When they get to the place, the German agent and Indiana Jones are with a knight that was guarding the Grail since the Crusades. He told them to choose and gestured towards an area with many different cups. The German spy looked over the different cups and picked one that was highly polished gold and encrusted with jewels and said, “THIS is the cup of a King.” and drank from the cup and died. The old knight said, “You chose…….poorly.” at which point the German started to age rapidly and in seconds had turned to dust. Indiana Jones looked at the cups, and after a few moments picked up a plain looking cup and said, “This is the cup of a carpenter.”  Then, he drank from it, waited to see if he suffered the same fate as the German. Then, the knight said, “You chose……wisely.” Then, Indiana used the cup to save his dad. The wrong choice brought death, the right choice gave life.

Watching that, it made me think about the times I made choices; how many times I chose poorly; how many times did I choose wisely? Sadly, I realize that I chose poorly more often that I chose wisely. I saw the bright, shiny objects, the “good times,” the pleasing things. Rather, the things I thought would be pleasing only to find that the joy those choices brought was fleeting, lasting but a moment, and then ended up facing the destruction that came with the bad choices. I have chosen wisely at times and saw the truth, that things that at first don’t offer the immediate rewards and “satisfaction” were in fact the things that offered long term rewards. But, out of all the choices, the best one I made was when I was dealing with the consequences of the bad choices was when I chose life everlasting. I made the decision to, rather than run from God and seek the things that in the human mind seem to be the beautiful things, turn to God, I asked Christ to provide the forgiveness I needed and He did so. I realized that I finally, truly chose wisely. I chose to seek God, to serve Him and am living a better, more rewarding life that also carries a promise of eternity in Heaven with Jesus.

Yes, I finally chose wisely, thankfully He helped me see the truth and brought me to the place that I did make the right decision and I praise God that He is so merciful and graceful and rewards me daily for that choice.

I would invite anyone reading to take a moment and consider your choices in the past and ask yourselves if you had chosen wisely or poorly. If you chose wisely, then great however if you find yourself questioning your wisdom in the choices, wondering if or knowing that you had chosen poorly, seek Him and His wisdom and guidance. If you realize that you made bad decisions then seen Him for help on how to make them right. Find what you need to do to correct your path to bring you to the place He wants you to be in life.

And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.   Joshua 24:15

19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, [that] I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:

20 That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, [and] that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he [is] thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.

Deuteronomy 30:19-20

More importantly, for those facing choices, and we all do everyday, seek Him for the knowledge on how to make the right choice. Those who do  it know Him I tell you that the choice you have before you is simple, choose Christ and life eternal or choose that which may seem an option for something shiny, bright and encrusted with what seems to be riches but which brings sorrow and leads to eternity in Hell. If you choose wisely, confess you have sinned and are lost then ask God to forgive you for those sins. He will, Christ paid the price with His blood so you can have the forgiveness and redemption that is waiting.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.   I John 1:9

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.  Romans 10:9

Lord,  I praise Your Holy name and thank You for showing me the right choice. That despite all the wrong choices I have made You still cared enough to send You Son Jesus to suffer for those sins and pay the price for me. I worship You for your mercy and grace. I ask in the name of Jesus that You speak to those struggling with bad decisions or who are at a point of trying to make a decision that you help them make the right choice. Help them choose wisely. I ask that You draw my loved ones to You and show them the right paths and help them accept a You as their Savior.

Amen

thank you once again to those who take the time to read my ramblings. I hope all have a blessed day and please try to be a blessing to at least one person today.

Buyer’s remorse

car lot

My daughter and son in law were in need of a new car about 2 years ago. They wanted a newer used car rather than a brand new and had been searching on line for quite a while. They finally narrowed down the search to 3 or 4 different models and were taking their time, looking to see what they could find that was what they were looking for at the time. They found a couple dealerships a couple hours from here that had several different cars that they felt were good options so they went to look and that evening came home with a new car. But, it was a completely different make and model than any they had considered. It was a nice looking car, drove well, mileage wasn’t too bad and price, was a little less than the others they were considering, so they bought it. I asked my son in law and he said they had looked at and driven several cars that day and then the salesman at one dealership wanted to show them this particular car. He told them all the wonderful features and how it was a great deal and better car than any of the others they had looked at so far. They drove it and liked it, well my daughter really liked it, the son in law was not that thrilled about it. They really didn’t know much about that particular model. They had not researched it to see if it had been subject of multiple recalls, if there were any consumer reports about frequently reported problems with it. But, they went ahead and started some negotiations with the salesman and ended up purchasing it. In a couple months they noticed a slight problem with driving it at certain speeds where it had a slight vibration. They had the tires checked, some uneven wear, slightly out of alignment, but the shop here couldn’t do it as it required special equipment to do the alignment and the only place that could do that was the dealer. So, 2 hour drive each way to get it aligned, with the cost being far more than what it would have been locally. But, it seemed to drive better. Then, a few weeks later, issues with the brakes. Hmmm, no one locally stocked or could order the parts, so ordered from the dealer, who also said that there was a special tool needed to remove the calipers to replace the brake pads, which they had to order as well. Fixed that and all okay, until some issues with the rear axle which required repair at the dealership and while it was covered by the warranty, that required a lot of discussion with the dealer as, after the repair was done, they said the manufacturer informed them it was not a warrantied repair. They discussion went back and forth, finally the company agreed to cover the repair. Since then, there have been other issues and both have expressed regret over the purchase since after they started having issues with it they did the research and found that the problems they had were common and usually required work at the dealership. Some covered under warranty, some wasn’t covered.

Sometimes I would help my son in law with the repairs and he would complain about the need to work on the car and if my daughter was in the garage she got very defensive about it. Saying things like, “Well, that could happen with any car.” “It wasn’t that expensive to fix it.” and otherwise being very defensive about any criticism about the vehicle. This happened every time someone said anything even slightly negative about the car. She would argue how wonderful the car really was and the little things weren’t that bad and most of the bigger things were covered by the warranty (although, that was not always true.) My son in law told me recently that he had misgivings about buying it but still, thought it was going to be ok. My daughter really wanted that car but now tells us that within a couple months of buying it she was having some significant regrets, she was having buyer’s remorse about buying it without getting to know more about the car and not taking time to do any research about it.

There have been times I have had buyer’s remorse or regrets about many things. Usually it was when I didn’t take time to really evaluate the potential purchase; Cars, houses, power tools, etc. But could apply to different jobs I accepted over the years. Usually, when I bought something that I kind of knew better than to buy without looking into it closer or taking the jobs I was uncertain about I would never admit to it, pride got in the way and I didn’t want people to know that I had messed up so I had to act like I was thrilled with the car, house, whatever, even it I really wanted to get rid of it. The list is endless and every time I did something a certain way without full thought or purchased something on impulse or without fully researching things and considering options, whether that be continue to drive my current vehicle or choices between brands of power tools and such, I almost always came to regret getting in too much of a hurry and not doing a little more research and comparisons between brands and options.

One’s actions often bring undesired results, one fails to consider all aspects and makes a rash decision and acts on that decision and then, over time they realize it was a mistake. God doesn’t want us to make uninformed or poorly informed decisions about life, whether that be major purchases, significant career choices, or any number of things. One should, as a Christian, approach all things not only with careful consideration, but with prayer, patience and a willingness to do without something until it is clear that one is following God’s plan.

35 Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward.
36 For ye have need of patience, that, after Heye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.

Hebrews 10:35-36

5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

 Proverbs 3:5-6

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.  Matthew 6:33

He wants us to seek Him before worrying about what decision we should make and if we do, He will reward us and guide us. He will protect us from our own bad decisions, IF WE SEEK HIM and let Him do so.

While we all make bad decisions with which He was likely not pleased; whatever actions we took, purchases we made, etc; it is more displeasing to God if we fail to correct whatever error was made. He is patient and won’t forsake us, but will remind us repeatedly that we made an error that caused some sort of division between He and us.

9 Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.
10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things [done] in [his] body, according to that he hath done, whether [it be] good or bad.

2 Corinthians 5:9-10

But, regardless of poor decisions, made without seeking guidance from the Lord, He loves us and will forgive us, He will help us correct our mistakes and set us on the path He desires. We need not live with remorse for bad decisions, we can correct mistakes and let Him help us make the correct ones in the future.

Lord, I praise Your Holy Name and thank You for the instructions You give me. I know I have a lot to learn. I am at a point where I am making some significant decisions and I pray in Jesus Name that I remember to seek You first and let You guide me as I do so. I pray that You show me what You would have me do. Draw me closer to You, show me, and my loved ones, Your will and way for us. Show us all the errors we have made that we may correct them, show us the correct path before we take a wrong step. I ask that You work in the hearts and minds of loved ones to draw them closer to You that they may seek and be given the forgiveness and salvation You will give.

Amen

Thank you all for stopping by today. It’s labor day and I, unfortunately, have to work. But, I pray all have a blessed day, and that you bless someone else as you enjoy your holiday.

Vacation is over.

the-vacation-is-over

Well, here I am, back from a brief vacation. God looked over me while I travelled and was away from home. I had a good time, saw some friends, made new friends, managed to find some gold and catch some salmon. More importantly, I talked to God, He protected me and helped me as I pondered on a very important decision. God is so GOOD! He blesses me, protects me, loves me, forgives me, shows me mercy and grace. None of which I deserve.

I took a week off from reality and went to do some prospecting and mine for gold. I found some, which is always exciting and even managed to find a couple nuggets, which is really exciting. I will be making another post on that later. I also did some salmon fishing and fishing was good! That is another post too, but if you enjoy fishing I highly recommend getting to Alaska at least once to fish for Silver Salmon.

But, most importantly, as I mentioned, I was able to spend time away from all of regular lives issues and talk with God. I have a lot of things up in the air, some big decisions to make and He helped with those. He worked in my heart, showed me a lot of things I need to work on in my life and gave me a better understanding about a lot of things. He gives me so much more than I expect or deserve; physical things, spiritual gifts, peace, joy, love, and much, much more.

19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.
20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

Lord,

Praise You and all that You are, I marvel at Your creation, Your love for us, Your mercy and grace that You show us. I thank You for the gift of salvation and forgiveness that was paid for by Your Son Jesus Christ. I thank You for helping me see and understand things better. About my life, about You and Jesus, and the peace and comfort You give me as I struggle with decisions. I ask in Jesus name that You help guide my steps, that You make me sensitive to Your wishes for me that I not proceed down the wrong path. I also ask that You draw me closer to You and that You draw loved ones to You. Show us all Your plan for our lives and keep us from  making the wrong decisions. Those who have gone down the wrong path, show us the way to get back to the path You have laid out for us that we may better serve You.

Amen

Thank you all for your time. I hope the past week has been good to you all and that you have been blessed, and been a blessing to others. Try to be a blessing to others as you go through your day.
