Hear the word!

John_5-24

Hearing is important for a lot of things, conversations, sermons, music, and in my job it is critical. I don’t mean just processing the sounds and words, but truly HEARING the intended message. Many more times than I wish I have heard the words, but not what the person saying them meant. That applies to both spoken and written word. In the context of this particular verse and the overall messages of Christ’s ministry and the Bible; hearing, COMPREHENDING and BELIEVING the truth of those messages is vital so one may have that life eternal that Jesus promises us. Many, many times I sat in church as a child and an adult, hearing the words but not truly understanding. Oh, I believed, but often as I read the Bible now, I find that I am better understanding what God wants to tell us and not just the superficial messages that are derived from a quick read and minimal thought. I also see now that we must not only understand and believe the true messages behind things, but we must incorporate the teachings into our daily life. I am working to be better at that, I am better at it than I was, but still have a long way to go. I praise Him for His patience and understanding as I work through scripture to learn what He is teaching me and LIVE what He is teaching me. Every day He makes me a better person, a better Christian and I am far from where He wants me to finally be in my Christian walk but I’ll get there, one step at a time.

Lord, I praise You for the message, mercy, forgiveness, redemption and salvation I have been given. I thank Jesus for His sacrifice on the cross, that He freely accepted the suffering He went through because of my sins. In the name of Jesus I pray that You continue to work in my heart to show me the true message You are trying to tell me, the real lesson You want me to learn and how to incorporate those lessons in my life. I pray You continue to work with me to show me Your plan for my life, help me learn to put myself aside so that I don’t seek what I want for myself, but what You want for me. Teach as all Your true plan and remove those things in our minds that cause us to not see your plans, remove the obstacles, selfishness and worldly mindset that clouds our judgement and teach us to see with the eyes of Christ. Draw us all closer to You and Your perfect plans. Bring my loved ones close to You and give them the desire to know You and seek Your forgiveness so they may have the salvation You offer.

Amen

I hope all are having a blessed weekend and that you are able to be a blessing to someone else as well.

Its almost auction time!

auction.jpg

I have mentioned that I have been trying to get my parents estate squared away and preparing for an estate auction. After a VERY long time it is finally almost time for that to happen. The auctioneer was here taking photographs and is now getting the descriptions for the photos written and everything finished up for the online auction. It has been a long process, at times emotionally difficult and I have had days that I was trying to work here and just felt totally overwhelmed. Praise the Lord that He helped me through those hard times and I finally got that done. I am now in a holding pattern of sorts as I can’t do any work to the house with the items in the way and other than yard work there isn’t a lot I can really get accomplished. While waiting for the auction to start and then eventually be completed I guess I am sort of reflecting. When the house is empty and their things are gone, it will be a different place. All the things, whether they have a significant monetary value did have memories attached with them. Different rooms bring one memory or another. Some marvelous, some just memories, some painful and most a combination of bitter and sweet. So many special times here with so many loved ones and in a way, those times cannot be taken away but also knowing they are not to be again brings a sting. But, that sting is tempered by the knowledge that my parents are with Christ, waiting for the rest of us to join them when the Lord decides our time on Earth is done.

I would take just a moment to remind those who still have their parents to be sure to love them and make sure they KNOW that you love them. Spend as much time as possible with them as once they are gone, that won’t be an option. Thank the Lord daily for them, whether still living or not, as they are, or were, a tremendous blessing and cannot be replaced.

Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.    Exodus 20:12

Lord,

I praise Your Holy Name and thank You for the parents I had and for the lessons they taught me about being a good and God fearing man. I may have faultered at times, but I have been redeemed by Christ and am now the man they had always hoped. I thank You for my salvation, for the sacrifice that Christ made to provide me with the redemption I never earned but was given. I pray that You help me be half the parent they were for me. I pray that as You brought me back to You, that You do the same for my children and other loved ones. Show us all what we need to do so we may serve You as You have planned for us to serve and show us all Your plan for us that we may correct our errors and follow the path You have set for us. I pray in Jesus Name that we all become the Christians that You wish for us to be in life.

Amen

Thank you all for your time today. I pray that Christ bless you all and that you are able to be a blessing to someone else as well.

Buyer’s remorse

car lot

My daughter and son in law were in need of a new car about 2 years ago. They wanted a newer used car rather than a brand new and had been searching on line for quite a while. They finally narrowed down the search to 3 or 4 different models and were taking their time, looking to see what they could find that was what they were looking for at the time. They found a couple dealerships a couple hours from here that had several different cars that they felt were good options so they went to look and that evening came home with a new car. But, it was a completely different make and model than any they had considered. It was a nice looking car, drove well, mileage wasn’t too bad and price, was a little less than the others they were considering, so they bought it. I asked my son in law and he said they had looked at and driven several cars that day and then the salesman at one dealership wanted to show them this particular car. He told them all the wonderful features and how it was a great deal and better car than any of the others they had looked at so far. They drove it and liked it, well my daughter really liked it, the son in law was not that thrilled about it. They really didn’t know much about that particular model. They had not researched it to see if it had been subject of multiple recalls, if there were any consumer reports about frequently reported problems with it. But, they went ahead and started some negotiations with the salesman and ended up purchasing it. In a couple months they noticed a slight problem with driving it at certain speeds where it had a slight vibration. They had the tires checked, some uneven wear, slightly out of alignment, but the shop here couldn’t do it as it required special equipment to do the alignment and the only place that could do that was the dealer. So, 2 hour drive each way to get it aligned, with the cost being far more than what it would have been locally. But, it seemed to drive better. Then, a few weeks later, issues with the brakes. Hmmm, no one locally stocked or could order the parts, so ordered from the dealer, who also said that there was a special tool needed to remove the calipers to replace the brake pads, which they had to order as well. Fixed that and all okay, until some issues with the rear axle which required repair at the dealership and while it was covered by the warranty, that required a lot of discussion with the dealer as, after the repair was done, they said the manufacturer informed them it was not a warrantied repair. They discussion went back and forth, finally the company agreed to cover the repair. Since then, there have been other issues and both have expressed regret over the purchase since after they started having issues with it they did the research and found that the problems they had were common and usually required work at the dealership. Some covered under warranty, some wasn’t covered.

Sometimes I would help my son in law with the repairs and he would complain about the need to work on the car and if my daughter was in the garage she got very defensive about it. Saying things like, “Well, that could happen with any car.” “It wasn’t that expensive to fix it.” and otherwise being very defensive about any criticism about the vehicle. This happened every time someone said anything even slightly negative about the car. She would argue how wonderful the car really was and the little things weren’t that bad and most of the bigger things were covered by the warranty (although, that was not always true.) My son in law told me recently that he had misgivings about buying it but still, thought it was going to be ok. My daughter really wanted that car but now tells us that within a couple months of buying it she was having some significant regrets, she was having buyer’s remorse about buying it without getting to know more about the car and not taking time to do any research about it.

There have been times I have had buyer’s remorse or regrets about many things. Usually it was when I didn’t take time to really evaluate the potential purchase; Cars, houses, power tools, etc. But could apply to different jobs I accepted over the years. Usually, when I bought something that I kind of knew better than to buy without looking into it closer or taking the jobs I was uncertain about I would never admit to it, pride got in the way and I didn’t want people to know that I had messed up so I had to act like I was thrilled with the car, house, whatever, even it I really wanted to get rid of it. The list is endless and every time I did something a certain way without full thought or purchased something on impulse or without fully researching things and considering options, whether that be continue to drive my current vehicle or choices between brands of power tools and such, I almost always came to regret getting in too much of a hurry and not doing a little more research and comparisons between brands and options.

One’s actions often bring undesired results, one fails to consider all aspects and makes a rash decision and acts on that decision and then, over time they realize it was a mistake. God doesn’t want us to make uninformed or poorly informed decisions about life, whether that be major purchases, significant career choices, or any number of things. One should, as a Christian, approach all things not only with careful consideration, but with prayer, patience and a willingness to do without something until it is clear that one is following God’s plan.

35 Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward.
36 For ye have need of patience, that, after Heye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.

Hebrews 10:35-36

5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

 Proverbs 3:5-6

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.  Matthew 6:33

He wants us to seek Him before worrying about what decision we should make and if we do, He will reward us and guide us. He will protect us from our own bad decisions, IF WE SEEK HIM and let Him do so.

While we all make bad decisions with which He was likely not pleased; whatever actions we took, purchases we made, etc; it is more displeasing to God if we fail to correct whatever error was made. He is patient and won’t forsake us, but will remind us repeatedly that we made an error that caused some sort of division between He and us.

9 Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.
10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things [done] in [his] body, according to that he hath done, whether [it be] good or bad.

2 Corinthians 5:9-10

But, regardless of poor decisions, made without seeking guidance from the Lord, He loves us and will forgive us, He will help us correct our mistakes and set us on the path He desires. We need not live with remorse for bad decisions, we can correct mistakes and let Him help us make the correct ones in the future.

Lord, I praise Your Holy Name and thank You for the instructions You give me. I know I have a lot to learn. I am at a point where I am making some significant decisions and I pray in Jesus Name that I remember to seek You first and let You guide me as I do so. I pray that You show me what You would have me do. Draw me closer to You, show me, and my loved ones, Your will and way for us. Show us all the errors we have made that we may correct them, show us the correct path before we take a wrong step. I ask that You work in the hearts and minds of loved ones to draw them closer to You that they may seek and be given the forgiveness and salvation You will give.

Amen

Thank you all for stopping by today. It’s labor day and I, unfortunately, have to work. But, I pray all have a blessed day, and that you bless someone else as you enjoy your holiday.

Vacation is over.

the-vacation-is-over

Well, here I am, back from a brief vacation. God looked over me while I travelled and was away from home. I had a good time, saw some friends, made new friends, managed to find some gold and catch some salmon. More importantly, I talked to God, He protected me and helped me as I pondered on a very important decision. God is so GOOD! He blesses me, protects me, loves me, forgives me, shows me mercy and grace. None of which I deserve.

I took a week off from reality and went to do some prospecting and mine for gold. I found some, which is always exciting and even managed to find a couple nuggets, which is really exciting. I will be making another post on that later. I also did some salmon fishing and fishing was good! That is another post too, but if you enjoy fishing I highly recommend getting to Alaska at least once to fish for Silver Salmon.

But, most importantly, as I mentioned, I was able to spend time away from all of regular lives issues and talk with God. I have a lot of things up in the air, some big decisions to make and He helped with those. He worked in my heart, showed me a lot of things I need to work on in my life and gave me a better understanding about a lot of things. He gives me so much more than I expect or deserve; physical things, spiritual gifts, peace, joy, love, and much, much more.

19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.
20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

Lord,

Praise You and all that You are, I marvel at Your creation, Your love for us, Your mercy and grace that You show us. I thank You for the gift of salvation and forgiveness that was paid for by Your Son Jesus Christ. I thank You for helping me see and understand things better. About my life, about You and Jesus, and the peace and comfort You give me as I struggle with decisions. I ask in Jesus name that You help guide my steps, that You make me sensitive to Your wishes for me that I not proceed down the wrong path. I also ask that You draw me closer to You and that You draw loved ones to You. Show us all Your plan for our lives and keep us from  making the wrong decisions. Those who have gone down the wrong path, show us the way to get back to the path You have laid out for us that we may better serve You.

Amen

Thank you all for your time. I hope the past week has been good to you all and that you have been blessed, and been a blessing to others. Try to be a blessing to others as you go through your day.

He protects me!

Airplane

I am going to be taking a trip for a week and will to a large extent be off the grid so to speak, with little or no internet access so may not make any posts for a few days. I hope that anyone that happens by my blog will look through older posts and hopefully find something of interest and benefit to them in the meanwhile. I will post some photos when I get back to the real world. I pray all are well and that He blesses you.

But, before I go, I have to run through the hometown, do a few things around folks house, fun stuff like mowing. Well, not fun, but needful. After that, heading to airport this evening. I know He will protect me and I am hoping as I go on my trip He finds a way to use me to bless others.  How do I know He will protect me? He promises to do so. And, He also says He will use me. The only thing that may be any problem is if I am smart enough and sensitive enough to allow Him to use me how He wishes.

Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble. Proverbs 3:23

For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. Psalms 91:11

A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps. Proverbs 16:9

But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence. John 14:31

There are so many passages and verses that talk about how God will protect us, many other verses about Christians going forth into the world. I am not one of those that stops people, witnesses to them and such, it hasn’t been my way. Oh, there are some who do that and do it well, I just have not been one to do such. What I try to do, hope to do, is through my actions, as I go about my day, show the love of Christ and when the opportunity presents itself I will share about how Jesus has worked greatly in my life. So, I hope, as I go hence, that I hear Him when He tells me to speak, that I behave in a manner that glorifies Christ and that all I do helps show others the love Jesus has for us.

Lord, I praise You and stand on Your promises that You will protect me, be with me and guide my steps. I pray in Jesus Name that You help me show the love of Christ through my actions, that my words and deeds show Your grace and mercy. That if You wish me to speak with others I hear You and am sensitive to Your Holy Spirit on when and what to say. Help me shine Your light. I pray for loved ones that You protect them and comfort them as I travel and that You draw us all closer to You.

Amen

Thanks for the visit today. I hope to be able to post some while gone. I hope He uses me someway to bless others and that you all are able to be a blessing to others as well.

What to do, what to do?

fork in road

I am facing a decision, a fork in the road, trying to decide which road to take. As I consider options for the future I vacillate between a variety of choices. There are many options for us all, regardless of current circumstances and there are many choices to be made. I am faced with making decisions that will impact my life in many ways and some options will be dramatic changes in my life now and in the future. I make mental lists of pros and cons for each choice as I try to weigh the options, what are the advantages and disadvantages of each. While doing so I find that one choice has definite benefits over the other possibilities and, of course, as I think about things more I see yet another choice would be better for me. And, it goes on and on like that, one pays more, but would be a huge change, one offers stability if you will as it does not require sacrifice or change. The more I think one option is the right one and start to get more certain, the less certain I am about it and the more doubt starts to pop into my mind.

Basically, the more I think rather than being more certain, I become more uncertain. Obviously, I need wisdom beyond what I possess. VERY obviously, I need some guidance from God on this so I believe it is time to look to the scripture first, then pray on things after that so I know the path He has planned for me and wants me to take.

5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Proverbs 3:5-6

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all [men] liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. James 1:5

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Jeremiah 29:11

14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

1 John 5:14-15

Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10

6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6-7

12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

John 14:12-14

Well, lots there telling me that He will help me, if I seek Him and listen to Him. So, time to pray a bit and give all the circumstances to God so that He can show me His will and way.

Heavenly Father,  thank You for your words to show me that more important than the decision I make, is the way in which I make it and that in order to make the right decision, the decision that You wish me to make I must first seek You and when I do, You will show me the way. I pray in Jesus name that You show me the heart and mind of Christ that I will be able to hear You and know Your will and way for me. That I have no doubt about the decision I make and that while making the decision I put myself aside and look and listen to You while weighing my options. Give me Your wisdom as I make my decisions and help me be humble before You, not trying to push my will into the decision but look to You for that. I ask that You help my loved ones know that the decision is from You and that Your hand is guiding me. Draw us all closer to You and show us all Your will and Your plans for us. Give us all the wisdom to listen to You and understand what You are telling us. I thank You Lord for my forgiveness and salvation through your son Jesus who died on the cross to redeem my sins. Help me be a blessing to others that Your glory is shown through me.

Amen

Thanks to all for your time. I ask that you pray for me, that He work in my heart so I know His plans. I hope all have a blessed day and have a chance to be a blessing to someone else as well.

Market fluctuations.

stock

My son in law got what he said was a really hot tip on a stock. New company with some new technology that could be a great investment. He can use his 401k for that as well through his employer and he did that, buying some of the stock, quite a bit actually, when it was at a much lower price. It has gone up to 5 or 6 times what he paid for it. So, he was obviously elated. THEN, like many stocks, there was a down turn, and the price decreased. Well, the stocks he has are worth more than he paid for them, so he is still doing well with it but he was upset, well, maybe discouraged would be a better word. He had thought about selling when it was a little higher than it is now and didn’t. We talked about how the stock market has ups and downs and that trying to play the buy, sell, buy, sell game is quite risky and that whatever investments he makes should be considered long term and that he shouldn’t try to do the day trading unless he wanted to risk losing all his retirement savings. I told him that he shouldn’t waver back and forth on the stock. If he truly believed that the company was going to do well with their products, to stay the course. At this time it appears it was good advise as the value returned to its prior level and I believe is even a little higher now.

But, the conversation made me think how some people, including Christians, want to take the risks that go with jumping from one position or another, looking for a profit of sorts. Christians sometimes will leave one church and go to another if there are any kind of difficulties in the church, maybe unexpected expenses due to things like the furnace or air conditioner suddenly needing replaced, maybe there are issues between some members of the church and the leadership. Many types of struggles occur in a church or relationship, and jumping from one to another, taking the good that one has and trying to switch to another the person thinks is on the rise and will switch to that church, etc but, once hardship rolls around, they will begin looking for another to move to where they won’t have to put in as much effort to get from the church, etc. Well, all investments whether financial, personal or spiritual carry a risk and none are 100% guaranteed, except for the investments in Christ. THOSE never lose value but will only gain. The dividends will be eternal.

But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. James 1:6

Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD. Psalms 27:14

But without faith [it is] impossible to please [him]: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and [that] he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Hebrews 11:6

There will be ups and downs in life, that is a truth of human existence. What is a more important truth is that the ups will be better and the lows less difficult with Christ. He will protect us in those low times, when hardships come our way. He will protect us from harm, He will take our heavy burdens and give us rest when life requires we deal with things we think too difficult. When times are good, He gives us more cause to rejoice. And, I would say that even in the low times, with Christ, we always have good reason to rejoice.

Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great [is] your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.       Matthew 5:12

4 Rejoice in the Lord alway: [and] again I say, Rejoice.
5 Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord [is] at hand.
6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:4-7

Lord, I rejoice in You and all You do for me. You are there when I have successes in life and when life is more difficult and I am in the low places. You never waver, You are faithful and true and never fail me. Lord, In Jesus name I pray that You give me, give us all the faith and courage to stay the course, to not waver, to not try to move on when things are a little tougher, when the profit is not as easy, but to stand fast in our believes and our commitment, to you and one another. Help us realize that You will help us through those difficult times and help us through the challenging times. Help me, help us all, rejoice in You, not just regardless of the bad, but because of the bad because that is where you help us build character, increase our faith and strength in Christ. Draw us all closer to You that we know Your plans, will and way and that there will be struggles that You will see us through.

Amen

I hope all have a wonderful and blessed day. And, that you be a blessing to someone else as well. Thank you for stopping by today.

The Loss

woman-grieving-loss

One of my cousins quite recently lost her husband very unexpectedly due to a heart attack. I don’t know all the details, but I do know that she is hurting from the loss and of course, when I heard about it I felt very bad for her and her immediate family and it brings to mind various losses I have dealt with over the years. Each person we lose, whether to death or change in circumstances brings about sadness and mourning. Each time, due to the relationship the pain is different. Then, one considers not only the current loss and the void that is left immediately, but what about the loss of potential, of the future, of the expectations one had for the rest of their life and the impact of the loss on that? There is no doubt that each loss is painful, each loss is devastating in it’s own way, leaving one feeling not only the loss, but lost as well, as they try to adapt to the change in their life. We all have and will face losses of other in our lives. Most will lose many times in our lives, such is inevitable.

I have dealt with losses, parents, family, friends; sometimes to death, other times to changes life brings about which at times have been due to my actions and at other times, due to the actions of others. I have at one point or another dealt with each loss differently. Some I have dealt with in far more graceful manners than I would have ever expected myself capable of doing so. Some, well, some I have dealt with far less gracefully. Sometimes feeling sorry for myself, sometimes feeling angry, sometimes not really feeling anything at all, just numb but when that has happened eventually feelings come out and it seem that those times it is even more difficult to deal with than had I done what I should have and gone to Christ for comfort, peace and giving Him the pain I was feeling rather than trying to cope with things on my own. He is SO MUCH MORE capable of helping me through those trying times than I am able to on my own.

Blessed [are] they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. Matthew 5:4

He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds. Psalms 147:3

For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.  1 Thessalonians 4:14

He will heal our broken hearts. Christ will be there to give us peace and comfort.

Thou wilt keep [him] in perfect peace, [whose] mind [is] stayed [on thee]: because he trusteth in thee.   Isaiah  26:3

We serve an AMAZING GOD! He will give comfort and peace.

6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.    Philippians 4:6-7

For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time [are] not worthy [to be compared] with the glory which shall be revealed in us. Romans 8:18

Yes, we will all suffer loss, that is a fact of human existence but a fact of Christian existence is that we will not suffer the losses alone. No matter what other family members and friends do to try to comfort us, they cannot give the peace and comfort that Christ can give us.

Lord, I praise Your holy name. Thank You for the blessings You give me. I pray in Jesus Name that You be with my cousin and the rest of her family during this difficult time. I pray for your loving arms to be wrapped around them to comfort them and give them peace. Replace their sorrows with Your joy. Not only them, but all others that are suffering loss I ask that You comfort. Those who do not know You, draw to You that they may know the peace, comfort and salvation You have for them.

Amen

Thank you all for your time. Please, remember that no matter how dark things look, God is there for you. Look to Him and He will bless you. When He does, please, be a blessing to someone else.

House of Cards

house of cards

My granddaughter was trying to find something to watch on TV the other day and found a channel playing a Brady Bunch episode where there was some dispute and it was decided it would be settled by having a contest building a house of cards. Well, eventually the house came crashing down. As always, one thing leads to other thoughts and I realized how I have often thought I was really doing something, going about things my way, putting this and that together to make a plan or reach a goal that was not based or built solidly because I did so without God and in fact, sometimes the plans or goals were not what He wanted for me at all and, because it wasn’t, things came crashing down. That line of thinking brings to mind the house built on sand.

24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

Matthew 7:24-27

Yup, you got it, I was the foolish man and tried building things that were not according to His plans and when the rains came, the house fell. I am now building on THE Rock, Jesus, and I know that what comes will be in accordance with His plans and stand the test of time and will weather the storms and floods that are part of life.

1 And David spake unto the LORD the words of this song in the day that the LORD had delivered him out of the hand of all his enemies, and out of the hand of Saul:
2 And he said, The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer;
3 The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence.
4 I will call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.

2 Samuel 22:1-4

Other times, I had prayed and talked with God, and was sure that I was building something according to His plan, but others decisions and actions caused things to collapse. I cannot control the actions of others, but I do know that there are times that others impact God’s plan for me. If this happens, I will trust in Christ to use the results of what happens to make things even better for me.

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Jeremiah 29:11

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew 6:33

Yes, He has plans for me, plans for good. He will make the most of me and for me, IF I seek HIM first. I now take things to Him in prayer and read in the Bible to seek His guidance and will for me. I try more than anything to seek Him. I need to improve on it, but I am getting better than I was, thanks to God. He deserves the glory for any improvement that has occurred in me.

Lord, I thank You and praise You for the improvement in me that have occurred. It is Your work in me that has made these things possible. I ask You to help me remember to seek You first in the future and seek Your guidance so that Your will be done and that I am not trying to put my wishes in front you Yours. I thank You for my salvation. I ask in Jesus name that I learn patience and faith and that You give me the heart and mind of Christ. Please, draw loved ones to You so they may all know salvation and that they know Your will for them.

Amen.

Thanks you for stopping by today. Have a blessed day and be a blessing to others.

The Fountain

water.jpg

I was given this bottle from the Fountain of Youth that Ponce de Leon discovered in Florida. I haven’t tried it, but was told the water had a sulfur taste. Maybe youth has a price to pay in the foul taste. Thinking on the fountain of youth, and the efforts that so many go to in life to stay young, or at least young looking. Exercise and diet, coloring gray hair, make up, botox injections, and even surgery for some. All those involved trying to stave off the inevitable effects of aging. Oh, some aspects, particularly a healthy lifestyle with appropriate exercise and a proper diet actually help some, the rest are just bandaids to try to maintain the appearance of youth, but don’t actually do anything to keep one young. All, barring some horrible event, will age and eventually die. I have not seen any information on the life prolonging effects of this water, but would anticipate that it doesn’t do much. If I drink it, I’ll have a bitter taste in my mouth and eventually, get thirsty again.

BUT, there is a true fountain of youth, in a manner of speaking. It doesn’t keep me young physically, but the joy it gives me does keep me young spiritually and mentally. And, no bitter taste! Even better than that, I can try all I want, but I can never drink from the fountain of which I speak, but will NEVER drink too much. On top of that, I won’t get thirsty again! Such an amazingly refreshing and thirst quenching drink I get from the true fountain of youth. No, maybe not physical youth, but this fountain gives me life eternal and how can any pretense at youth be better than that?

For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light.  Psalms 36:9

Bless ye God in the congregations, even the Lord, from the fountain of Israel. Psalms 68:26

And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. Revelations 21:6

Many fountains in the Bible. He is the Fountain of Life, not simply youth, but LIFE! Without the waters He gives me, I would cease to exist.

10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
11 The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?
12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?
13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

John 4:10-14

THIS is the true and only fountain of LIFE! Life eternal with Christ. The fountain of youth, IF it were real, would only give me an extended life on earth, but it is not the life giving waters that Jesus has for us who confess that He is the Son of God, the He sacrificed Himself to die on the cross for our sins, rose from the grave and that we have sinned and ask Him for forgiveness of those sins.

If we do those things, WE ARE FORGIVEN! And, we can drink all we want from the Fountain. WHAT A GLORIOUS GOD WE SERVE! I never fail to be awed and amazed by His love, mercy and grace that He shows me, regardless of how undeserving I am to receive it.

Lord, I praise You and thank You for the Living Waters that You provide for us. That You used a bad situation to bring me to You and let me drink of those waters. That You sacrificed Your Son, Christ, to give me life eternal with You. In Jesus Name I pray that continue Your work in me, help me better seek Christ and be a better vessel for Him. I ask that You draw loved ones to You, show them Your true will and way for them, reveal Your plan for their lives. I pray You further clarify Your plans for my life as well.

In Jesus Precious Name, Amen

Thanks for your time today. PLEASE, take a minute to read the Bible, Pray and DRINK DEEPLY from the fountain of life He has for you. Have a most blessed day and be a blessing to someone else as well.
