What to do, what to do?

fork in road

I am facing a decision, a fork in the road, trying to decide which road to take. As I consider options for the future I vacillate between a variety of choices. There are many options for us all, regardless of current circumstances and there are many choices to be made. I am faced with making decisions that will impact my life in many ways and some options will be dramatic changes in my life now and in the future. I make mental lists of pros and cons for each choice as I try to weigh the options, what are the advantages and disadvantages of each. While doing so I find that one choice has definite benefits over the other possibilities and, of course, as I think about things more I see yet another choice would be better for me. And, it goes on and on like that, one pays more, but would be a huge change, one offers stability if you will as it does not require sacrifice or change. The more I think one option is the right one and start to get more certain, the less certain I am about it and the more doubt starts to pop into my mind.

Basically, the more I think rather than being more certain, I become more uncertain. Obviously, I need wisdom beyond what I possess. VERY obviously, I need some guidance from God on this so I believe it is time to look to the scripture first, then pray on things after that so I know the path He has planned for me and wants me to take.

5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Proverbs 3:5-6

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all [men] liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. James 1:5

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Jeremiah 29:11

14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

1 John 5:14-15

Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10

6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6-7

12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

John 14:12-14

Well, lots there telling me that He will help me, if I seek Him and listen to Him. So, time to pray a bit and give all the circumstances to God so that He can show me His will and way.

Heavenly Father,  thank You for your words to show me that more important than the decision I make, is the way in which I make it and that in order to make the right decision, the decision that You wish me to make I must first seek You and when I do, You will show me the way. I pray in Jesus name that You show me the heart and mind of Christ that I will be able to hear You and know Your will and way for me. That I have no doubt about the decision I make and that while making the decision I put myself aside and look and listen to You while weighing my options. Give me Your wisdom as I make my decisions and help me be humble before You, not trying to push my will into the decision but look to You for that. I ask that You help my loved ones know that the decision is from You and that Your hand is guiding me. Draw us all closer to You and show us all Your will and Your plans for us. Give us all the wisdom to listen to You and understand what You are telling us. I thank You Lord for my forgiveness and salvation through your son Jesus who died on the cross to redeem my sins. Help me be a blessing to others that Your glory is shown through me.

Amen

Thanks to all for your time. I ask that you pray for me, that He work in my heart so I know His plans. I hope all have a blessed day and have a chance to be a blessing to someone else as well.

Sometimes I make my tongue hurt.

tongue

Did you ever have a time where you wanted to say something, and did so without giving thought to whether you should say it or not? Or, times you felt like saying something but bit your tongue as you wanted to wait and give it a little thought before saying it? Maybe give someone your honest opinion about something or tell them something true that they you think they should hear but may be hurtful or upsetting to them so you hold off and consider if you should say it and if you should you wish to consider options on how to tell them. Perhaps it is because of something they did to you or said about you or someone else. Maybe they did something wrong and you want to make sure they know. Possibly something they are doing wrong and sinning and you are wanting to help them by letting them know what they are doing is a sin. Or someone fixed you dinner but what they fixed is not seasoned properly and you want to help them by letting them know it has too much garlic or salt or was a little overcooked? The list of things one can find to criticize another is pretty lengthy. I know it sure wouldn’t take a lot of effort for someone to find ways to criticize me.

Sometimes, criticism is needful and beneficial but many times it is simply a way for someone to try to attack another. I have had people claim they were giving “constructive criticism” that was nothing more than a way for them to try to demean me and either make themselves feel better by making negative comments about me or simply to make me feel bad about myself or whatever it was that I had done. I have to admit that I have at times done that to others and said things that didn’t really need to be said out of anger or because I was upset. Regardless of the reason for my feelings, I thought I was justified to say something and at times I did. No thought about the real reason for saying it or what benefit it may have for others if I were to say what I was feeling. Maybe someone said hurtful things to me so I wanted to hurt them back during a conversation or argument so out the words come and words can be quite powerful but the words often impact the recipient and the speaker in undesirable ways.

Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. Ephesians 4:29

Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.  Psalms 19:14

He that hath knowledge spareth his words: [and] a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit. Proverbs 17:27

A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger. Proverbs 15:1

If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion [is] vain. James 1:26

Let your speech [be] alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man. Colossians 4:6

Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. Ephesians 4:29

Yeah, I know I started and ended the scriptures here with the same verse. Because, well the lesson for me is important. FIRST, I need to remember to NOT let corrupt communication proceed from my mouth. I need to consider if I am speaking the truth for the need of the one hearing it or if I am saying it to please myself because I am angry or have any motivation other than helping someone and glorifying Christ. I have in the past had no hesitation to speak my mind, often times not considering if it is right that I say whatever. Oh, it may not have been false or wrong, but it also may not have been beneficial for anyone that I give words to my thoughts. Christ has helped me with that. I am much better about pausing before I speak, biting my tongue until I have thought about things a little and often I find I really think it is better NOT to say something. Oh, I may REALLY WANT to say it, but that is the selfish human part of me and not Christ so I bite my tongue. He helps me hold my tongue and I do need help with that.  I have also come to better realize that those to whom I want to speak harshly or criticize about their actions don’t need to hear me. Those who have sinned, against me, others, themselves and most importantly against God, well, they already KNOW that they did so and me saying something to them is basically rubbing the sin in their faces and being judgmental. Neither of which benefits me or others so as such, the words are corrupt.

I also repeated the verse because not only do I need to make sure the words are not corrupt, but that they will benefit the one to whom I am speaking and me as well. That it will build them up, bring them closer to Christ and glorify the Lord. God has helped me be more careful to hold my words, pick the right words and I am thankful that He has done so.

Lord, Praise Your Holy Name. I thank You so much for helping me learn when I should speak and when I should hold my words, for helping me learn better how to consider the reason and impact of what words I would use. I ask that You continue to help me with this as I still have a long way to go to be where I should be with this and many other issues. In Jesus name I pray that You use my words, spoken and written, only to glorify You and to help others, to draw them to You. To show them Your glory, peace, comfort and the salvation You offer us all. That my words serve You and help others. And, to not say those things out of human desires of vengeance, anger or vanity. Give me the right words at the right time. I ask that You better help me seek You and that You use me for Your glory. Please draw loved ones to You and help us all see Your plan for us.

Amen

Thanks for your time today. I hope something blessed or helped another today and please, try to be a blessing to someone else as you go about your days.

Market fluctuations.

stock

My son in law got what he said was a really hot tip on a stock. New company with some new technology that could be a great investment. He can use his 401k for that as well through his employer and he did that, buying some of the stock, quite a bit actually, when it was at a much lower price. It has gone up to 5 or 6 times what he paid for it. So, he was obviously elated. THEN, like many stocks, there was a down turn, and the price decreased. Well, the stocks he has are worth more than he paid for them, so he is still doing well with it but he was upset, well, maybe discouraged would be a better word. He had thought about selling when it was a little higher than it is now and didn’t. We talked about how the stock market has ups and downs and that trying to play the buy, sell, buy, sell game is quite risky and that whatever investments he makes should be considered long term and that he shouldn’t try to do the day trading unless he wanted to risk losing all his retirement savings. I told him that he shouldn’t waver back and forth on the stock. If he truly believed that the company was going to do well with their products, to stay the course. At this time it appears it was good advise as the value returned to its prior level and I believe is even a little higher now.

But, the conversation made me think how some people, including Christians, want to take the risks that go with jumping from one position or another, looking for a profit of sorts. Christians sometimes will leave one church and go to another if there are any kind of difficulties in the church, maybe unexpected expenses due to things like the furnace or air conditioner suddenly needing replaced, maybe there are issues between some members of the church and the leadership. Many types of struggles occur in a church or relationship, and jumping from one to another, taking the good that one has and trying to switch to another the person thinks is on the rise and will switch to that church, etc but, once hardship rolls around, they will begin looking for another to move to where they won’t have to put in as much effort to get from the church, etc. Well, all investments whether financial, personal or spiritual carry a risk and none are 100% guaranteed, except for the investments in Christ. THOSE never lose value but will only gain. The dividends will be eternal.

But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. James 1:6

Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD. Psalms 27:14

But without faith [it is] impossible to please [him]: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and [that] he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Hebrews 11:6

There will be ups and downs in life, that is a truth of human existence. What is a more important truth is that the ups will be better and the lows less difficult with Christ. He will protect us in those low times, when hardships come our way. He will protect us from harm, He will take our heavy burdens and give us rest when life requires we deal with things we think too difficult. When times are good, He gives us more cause to rejoice. And, I would say that even in the low times, with Christ, we always have good reason to rejoice.

Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great [is] your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.       Matthew 5:12

4 Rejoice in the Lord alway: [and] again I say, Rejoice.
5 Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord [is] at hand.
6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:4-7

Lord, I rejoice in You and all You do for me. You are there when I have successes in life and when life is more difficult and I am in the low places. You never waver, You are faithful and true and never fail me. Lord, In Jesus name I pray that You give me, give us all the faith and courage to stay the course, to not waver, to not try to move on when things are a little tougher, when the profit is not as easy, but to stand fast in our believes and our commitment, to you and one another. Help us realize that You will help us through those difficult times and help us through the challenging times. Help me, help us all, rejoice in You, not just regardless of the bad, but because of the bad because that is where you help us build character, increase our faith and strength in Christ. Draw us all closer to You that we know Your plans, will and way and that there will be struggles that You will see us through.

Amen

I hope all have a wonderful and blessed day. And, that you be a blessing to someone else as well. Thank you for stopping by today.

The Salesman

car609

I remember going to shop for a car, the salesman was quick to greet, was extremely friendly, tried to chat me up to get me to like him. That’s his job, to get people to like him because it is easier for him to sell us a car if we like him. It’s harder to say no to someone you like. Now, with salesman, maybe they are friendly people by nature, but for most, it is a show, a game, a ploy. Because, they have an agenda, they want to make money by selling you a car. Well, DUH! But, did you ever think about some of the tactics they use? Like I mentioned, they like to make you think they are your friend. Try to find out things about you that they can use later to help them, ask about family and such for example. Then, of course, they start showing you cars and they seem to prefer showing the more expensive models, with all the extra features. They want you to want the extras, that means a bigger commission for them. Then, the test drive, they make sure to emphasize the good features, and minimize any bad. Then, afterwards, if they sense hesitation, sometimes they encourage you to take the car home for the night, drive it to the store and such. A couple reasons for that is that it can make you want it more, sort of talk yourself into it and also that it makes most people feel some obligation. They guilt you into being more likely to buy it.

THEN, the negotiations begin, they tell you all the stuff they recommend, try to get you to agree to a lot of options, talk about possible trade in, then, the list price. They always have different discounts to throw on there, then, ask about financing. Then, finally they show you a price, sort of, because a lot will actually say how much your payments will be, not the actual cost. They obscure information that you should have to make the right decision for yourself. Eventually, if you really want to buy, then make an offer, they will have to go talk with a manager, then, eventually come back with a minimal reduction. This goes on for a while and maybe a price is agreed on. Then, they want to add extended warranty, treating the interior, rustproofing, etc all to bump the price back up again. If you say no to something, they start getting a little condescending and will talk down to you. Personally, THAT is when the negotiations stop and I walk out, but that’s me.

If you start to seem like you are getting cold feet, then your “friendly car sales person” often becomes a bit hostile. Hmmm, what happened to the buddy, buddy stuff? Maybe instead of that they get even more chummy than they were previously. They all have a little different tactics they use, but all to get your money into their pockets.

So many ways they manipulate people, they are taught to do so. Try to find a weakness and exploit it. I think about people that I know and know of, that are that way too. They look for a vulnerability and exploit it. All the while acting like a friend to the person they are dealing with at the time. All the while, having their own agenda that they are concerned about, not the person they are supposedly helping. At times, they try hard to ingratiate themselves to the persons family or friends who then support the person’s agenda.

There are others in the world, believers (maybe I should say some that claim to be believers) and nonbelievers, that are selling things; false believes, pushing their own agenda for self gain or in other ways seeking to manipulate others for their own benefit. Sometimes through smooth talking, sometimes through giving gifts or donations. Unfortunately, there are people that are sometimes deceived by the “salesman” and end up suffering one way or another in the long run. Temporarily they may obtain, of feel they have obtained, some sort of benefit from the “purchase” they made. Perhaps they do benefit in one manner, but the benefit comes at a tremendous cost. If a false prophet, then they risk losing their souls. But there are many other ways these people lose when they fall prey to the person “selling” them whatever it is they are using to manipulate them.

I suspect all have been deceived in one manner or another by this type of person. I know I have been naïve and bought something I either didn’t need or had a true cost far more than I realized at the time. Does anyone remember the tape of the month clubs? You would get a bunch of cassette tapes for a penny, but the fine print says that after that you have to buy a certain amount of tapes at regular price in a year. If you didn’t return a card they sent by a certain date they would ship the next month’s tape and you were billed. Well, the notice usually came less than a day or two before the tape would ship and there was no way that one could mail the notice back in time if they didn’t want that particular tape. So, the tape arrives, something you don’t want and it was higher priced than you could have bought at a local record store.

Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 1 John 4:1

13 For such [are] false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.
14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
15 Therefore [it is] no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

2 Corinthians 11:13-15

Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Matthew 7:15

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead [men’s] bones, and of all uncleanness. Matthew 23:27

There are many other verses that discuss deceivers, those who would manipulate and use for their own personal gain, with no regard for those they trick. There are churches that teach false doctrine (thankfully where I go this is not the case.) There are individuals that use others in different ways. We must be ever vigil to avoid falling into these peoples traps. I have fallen victim at times but have learned. I suspect I have other lessons to learn as well, but I will be more diligent in the future and hopefully avoid such situations.

10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:
11 For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
12 Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth.

2 Peter 10-12

Lord, I thank You for the wise teachings You give me. I praise You for the guidance You give and how You give me tools to help me avoid falling into various traps in life. And, helping me avoid worse damage if I do fall victim. I pray in Jesus name that You continue to help me with these things and help me not succumb to those who would use me and cause me suffering. I pray that You help others see the truth about things so they make wise decisions as well. Lord, please draw us all to You and give us the heart and mind of Christ.

Amen.

I hope all have a great day. Thanks for the visit. And, of course, try to be a blessing to someone.

Beach Glass

1280px-Glass_Beach_Fort_Bragg_3.jpg

My daughter used to live near the coast and went to the beach often. She would look for shells and such and one day, found what looked to be a small bluish colored stone of some sort, she picked it up and took it with her. After some research, she found out it was beach glass. It is broken pieces of glass, bottles, etc that is washed around in the sand, getting smoothed and polished, will, not polished as it gets a frosted appearance, but the sharp edges get smooth and the pieces vary in size, color and shape. A couple years ago I was up in Nome, Alaska and while down town (downtown aint big by the way) I walked onto the beach and was looking at stones and maybe some shells to bring back for the grandkids as they like that sort of thing. While looking I found a few pieces of beach glass, some brown, others blue, green, white, red and amber. It seems that at one time everyone felt it was fine to through their trash onto the beach. Bottles and everything. The bottles would get broken by the surf and eventually turned into the pieces I was finding. There were also some fires in Nome around 1900 and when they were getting ready to rebuild they salvaged what they could and threw the rest onto the beach. Same as the bottles, the surf broke up the glass from the windows and bottles and such and eventually it became the beach glass. Individual pieces are kind of neat, but when a bunch of different colored pieces are put into a small vase, maybe made into jewelry it is really neat. I have also seen it used to make a sort of stained glass window or mosaic to hang up as a sun-catcher. All the different ways are fascinating, especially the sun catchers.

beach glass lampwork cobalt necklace

Thinking on this, reminds me of the post about upcycling, taking things that are broken and damaged, then turning them into something different, more beautiful and with a different function. God takes us, when we are broken, damaged, no longer useful for our initial purpose, allows us to go through trials and tribulations to buff off and smooth the rough edges, sand us and then, gathers us up to make us into something useful in His service.

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.  Romans 8:28

19 And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh:
20 That they may walk in my statutes, and keep mine ordinances, and do them: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God.

Ezekiel 11:19-20

At one time, I most definitely had a stony heart. I was cold, callous, bitter and angry. Christ worked in my heart and made the change in me. He removed the things from me that made my heart so hard. He redeemed me of my sins. He forgave me when I did not deserve it. WHAT A MIGHTY, MERCIFUL and AWESOME GOD WE SERVE! He takes us when we are broken, damaged, battered and bruised and makes something He finds beautiful that He can use.

Lord, I praise You and thank You for all You have done for me. You gave me salvation and deliverance from sin. You removed the hurt, anger and pain and replaced it with Your love, kindness and grace. In Jesus Name I pray that You continue the work in my heart. Help me know Christ better. Help me better serve You. Draw me and all my loved ones to You. Show us all Your plans for us and help us to move our human selves out of Your way, help us see where we have failed You and help us make the changes we can, while we seek You to make the big changes.

Amen

I know I say this pretty much every post, but I truly appreciate those who take time to read them. I hope that someone gets a blessing out of this. I know He blesses me with every post I make when I take time to pray and study the scripture as I work through my thoughts and issues. Have a blessed day and I hope all can be a blessing to someone else.

Someone is always watching. GOD is ALWAYS watching.

people looking

The other day my grandson had to go to ball practice. I was off and his folks were both at work, so guess who was voluntold to take him….YUP, you got it, me! No problems, I kinda like the kid, so I was glad to do it. Well, they live a couple miles from us out in the country, so I was driving him down and when we got to town the light was red so I pulled into the left turn lane to wait for the light to change. We had the windows down as it was a really nice day. A car pulled into the right hand turn lane and then another pulled up into the straight lane. The guy in the lane next to us just started screaming and cussing at the guy in the other turn lane. This was language as bad or worse than anything I ever heard in the military. My grandson turned to look and see what was going on, and then he turned towards me with a funny expression on his face. About then the light changed so we turned and headed to the ball field. As we drove he told me the man next to us was a deacon in his church and proceeded to say that was almost like the pastor, and how come he was cussing so much because preachers shouldn’t do that. I explained that we didn’t know what had happened before then to make him mad, but he still should not have behaved like that. I also explained that Christians aren’t perfect, but we can be forgiven. We just have to repent, confess to Christ and ask for forgiveness. I also told him that we shouldn’t judge, any judgement will come from God.

But, it also got me to thinking that while we can be forgiven, Christians have a responsibility to Christ to do our best to control our anger and our actions, including our words as people are always watching, nonChristians will judge us and Christ because of Christians behavior.

19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
20 For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.

James 1:19-20

[He that is] slow to wrath [is] of great understanding: but [he that is] hasty of spirit exalteth folly.  Proverbs 14:29

If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion [is] vain. James 1:26

The scripture is pretty straight forward on controlling emotions, especially anger, and the actions or words associated with failing to do so. There are many other verses that eal with this issue as well.

But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. Colossians 3:8

Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. Ephesians 4:29

Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be. James 3:10

Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.  Matthew 15:11

26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. Hebrews 10:26-27

The fear of the LORD [is] to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate. Proverbs 8:13

It is pretty obvious that foul language is not pleasing to the Lord. He expects our actions and our words, to reflect a positive image of Christians, and therefore of Christ through our actions. Foul language discredits they who use it, and Christ.

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things [are] honest, whatsoever things [are] just, whatsoever things [are] pure, whatsoever things [are] lovely, whatsoever things [are] of good report; if [there be] any virtue, and if [there be] any praise, think on these things. Philippians 4:8

And, no matter who else may, or may not, see us as we go about our days, when we do well and when we sin, God always sees us.

The eyes of the LORD [are] in every place, beholding the evil and the good. Proverbs 15:3

I have had more than my share of failures in keeping my anger in check and holding my tongue. I am much better than I was before, my language is much better, my ability to avoid getting angry is better as well. Not thanks to me, but to God for the improvements.

Lord, I praise You and thank You for the blessings You give me and the lessons I learn while I study Your word. And, the opportunities You give me to try to help my grandson (and me) understand Your wishes for us. I pray in Jesus name that You help me remember that I am always an ambassador for Christ and that I need to, even if no one else sees, remember to always be the person I should be and not succumb to anger, that I make sure to use the right words and not speak out of anger. I ask that You help me continue to learn the heart and mind of Christ and that You continue helping me be the person You want. Draw my love ones to Jesus that they may know You as well. Teach us all Your true will and way for us.

Amen

Thanks for your time. Have a most blessed day. And, of course, try to be a blessing to others as well.

MORE CONCERN!!!!!

I published this a while back, but got the same feeling of concern for a friend that I know is not in a good situation. I pray that God works mightily in my friend’s life and gives them exactly what they need.

Have you ever been just going about your business of the day, not really thinking of anything other than work issues and SUDDENLY get a sense of worry or impending doom for a friend that you haven’t heard from in quite a while? No idea why, exactly what they have been doing, just that something suddenly made you have concern, worry, fear, how ever you wish to explain it. Just that whatever is going on, they may be in some sort of physical, emotional or spiritual danger. A sudden, inexplicable, undeniable burden to pray for that person? No idea what to pray about, but the definite need for prayer is present.
I had just that happen, I don’t know why but it suddenly hit me to pray for them. I say hit because it was like a ton of bricks being dumped on me. Well, I tried to shrug it off. They are fine, it’s just a weird notion and they are not in any type of danger. I tried to not think on it, but I could think of nothing else for a few minutes. SO, I prayed for their safety and protection from whatever it may be that caused my feeling of concern.
I sometimes worry about this or that, but have never had that type of feeling about someone or something. And, well, I dunno. I may or may not hear about some sort of close call, some spiritual battle, some very distressing emotional event, but I followed what I felt to be Jesus telling me I needed to pray for my friend.
I have been praying gifts of the Holy Spirit, the other day, I felt much more faith than I have ever had, but this was different. I had no vision or idea of why I felt that need so the gift of visions still is not what I think the gift is but maybe another gift is just an increased sensitivity to His will and leading in my life. I don’t know for sure, I just know I could not shake that feeling and until I prayed, I just started to get worse and worse feelings about the situation, whatever it may be.

4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.
6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.
7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.
8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:
11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.
12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.
I Corinthians 12:4-12

And the firstborn of the poor shall feed, and the needy shall lie down in safety: and I will kill thy root with famine, and he shall slay thy remnant. Isaiah 14:30

Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble. Proverbs 3:23

The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe. Proverbs 18:10

Heavenly Father, I pray in the name of Jesus that You put a ring of protection around my friend, send guardian angels for safety and protection from whatever harm may be on the horizon. Send a spirit of peace and comfort regardless of what may be going on, so that no harm befalls them. I praise Your Holy Name and stand on Your promises that they will be protected.
Amen.

Thanks, just had that feeling and I had to pray. Hopefully someone derives some benefit from this post. Be sensitive to His Spirit and guidance.

The Loss

woman-grieving-loss

One of my cousins quite recently lost her husband very unexpectedly due to a heart attack. I don’t know all the details, but I do know that she is hurting from the loss and of course, when I heard about it I felt very bad for her and her immediate family and it brings to mind various losses I have dealt with over the years. Each person we lose, whether to death or change in circumstances brings about sadness and mourning. Each time, due to the relationship the pain is different. Then, one considers not only the current loss and the void that is left immediately, but what about the loss of potential, of the future, of the expectations one had for the rest of their life and the impact of the loss on that? There is no doubt that each loss is painful, each loss is devastating in it’s own way, leaving one feeling not only the loss, but lost as well, as they try to adapt to the change in their life. We all have and will face losses of other in our lives. Most will lose many times in our lives, such is inevitable.

I have dealt with losses, parents, family, friends; sometimes to death, other times to changes life brings about which at times have been due to my actions and at other times, due to the actions of others. I have at one point or another dealt with each loss differently. Some I have dealt with in far more graceful manners than I would have ever expected myself capable of doing so. Some, well, some I have dealt with far less gracefully. Sometimes feeling sorry for myself, sometimes feeling angry, sometimes not really feeling anything at all, just numb but when that has happened eventually feelings come out and it seem that those times it is even more difficult to deal with than had I done what I should have and gone to Christ for comfort, peace and giving Him the pain I was feeling rather than trying to cope with things on my own. He is SO MUCH MORE capable of helping me through those trying times than I am able to on my own.

Blessed [are] they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. Matthew 5:4

He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds. Psalms 147:3

For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.  1 Thessalonians 4:14

He will heal our broken hearts. Christ will be there to give us peace and comfort.

Thou wilt keep [him] in perfect peace, [whose] mind [is] stayed [on thee]: because he trusteth in thee.   Isaiah  26:3

We serve an AMAZING GOD! He will give comfort and peace.

6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.    Philippians 4:6-7

For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time [are] not worthy [to be compared] with the glory which shall be revealed in us. Romans 8:18

Yes, we will all suffer loss, that is a fact of human existence but a fact of Christian existence is that we will not suffer the losses alone. No matter what other family members and friends do to try to comfort us, they cannot give the peace and comfort that Christ can give us.

Lord, I praise Your holy name. Thank You for the blessings You give me. I pray in Jesus Name that You be with my cousin and the rest of her family during this difficult time. I pray for your loving arms to be wrapped around them to comfort them and give them peace. Replace their sorrows with Your joy. Not only them, but all others that are suffering loss I ask that You comfort. Those who do not know You, draw to You that they may know the peace, comfort and salvation You have for them.

Amen

Thank you all for your time. Please, remember that no matter how dark things look, God is there for you. Look to Him and He will bless you. When He does, please, be a blessing to someone else.

The door

doorknob

A friend sends me little things like this all the time. Sometimes she shares things that she finds helpful for her and thinks it may be something I could use as well I suppose. Maybe some are things she thinks God wants her to share with me. Regardless, its actually a thought that it appears we could all benefit from most of the time. I know that many times I have waited, far less than patiently, for God to move in my life. Open a door to opportunity but, because I was so busy holding the knob to be ready to open it I did not sense when He was trying to open it for me and in doing as I was, I kept myself from getting whatever blessing He planned for me. I suppose, in a way, it is another way of saying, “Let go and let God.” Such a simple concept and it SHOULD be a simple act of stepping back, giving things to Him and letting Him do the heavy lifting for us. Let Him have the heavy burdens of making our lives as He wishes them to be for us.

7 And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;
8 I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.

Revelation 3:7-8

He will open the doors that HE wants open for us, oh there may be times that we think we can open doors, but if not in accord with His plans, even if we get the door opened and go through, He will send us back out and close the door. BUT, the door to Heaven and life eternal with Him, He will open that for us and no one can keep us out if we remain faithful and loyal to Christ, following Him and doing His will.

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. Revelation 3:20

I needed to listen for Him to knock, I needed to be ready to hear His voice. Over the years, I heard but did not listen. Despite that, He was always better to me than I deserved and protected me from all manner of harm. Oh, He didn’t stop me from doing wrong, He didn’t always prevent me from suffering, but He did help me avoid some very bad situations and the issues that I would have faced had I been allowed to follow the path I had myself on. Even when I was in sin of one type or another, He never stopped knocking and calling to me. WHAT AN AMAZING GOD!  Far more merciful than I deserve and much more gracious than I can earn.

Lord, I praise Your Holy Name and worship You for all that You are for me. My Savior, my Redeemer, my Heavenly Father that never gave up and always called to me, waiting for me to be ready. I thank You for my salvation through the blood of Jesus. I thank You for reminding me that You have more for me in life and that I only need to step back, let go of the door, stop trying to force it open and let You open the door for me that You wish for me to take. In Jesus Name I pray for the heart and mind of Christ that I better know You, Your will and way for me. Help me know which door and the time in which You wish me to take it. Help me better be able to fully let go of things so that YOU can have Your way in my life. Draw my loved ones to You and show them Your plans, Your will for them. Show them all the path to salvation through Jesus.

Amen

Well, I think I said things the way He helped me understand. I hope something here was a blessing for someone. And, that you all make sure to be a blessing to at least one other person today.

House of Cards

house of cards

My granddaughter was trying to find something to watch on TV the other day and found a channel playing a Brady Bunch episode where there was some dispute and it was decided it would be settled by having a contest building a house of cards. Well, eventually the house came crashing down. As always, one thing leads to other thoughts and I realized how I have often thought I was really doing something, going about things my way, putting this and that together to make a plan or reach a goal that was not based or built solidly because I did so without God and in fact, sometimes the plans or goals were not what He wanted for me at all and, because it wasn’t, things came crashing down. That line of thinking brings to mind the house built on sand.

24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

Matthew 7:24-27

Yup, you got it, I was the foolish man and tried building things that were not according to His plans and when the rains came, the house fell. I am now building on THE Rock, Jesus, and I know that what comes will be in accordance with His plans and stand the test of time and will weather the storms and floods that are part of life.

1 And David spake unto the LORD the words of this song in the day that the LORD had delivered him out of the hand of all his enemies, and out of the hand of Saul:
2 And he said, The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer;
3 The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence.
4 I will call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.

2 Samuel 22:1-4

Other times, I had prayed and talked with God, and was sure that I was building something according to His plan, but others decisions and actions caused things to collapse. I cannot control the actions of others, but I do know that there are times that others impact God’s plan for me. If this happens, I will trust in Christ to use the results of what happens to make things even better for me.

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Jeremiah 29:11

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew 6:33

Yes, He has plans for me, plans for good. He will make the most of me and for me, IF I seek HIM first. I now take things to Him in prayer and read in the Bible to seek His guidance and will for me. I try more than anything to seek Him. I need to improve on it, but I am getting better than I was, thanks to God. He deserves the glory for any improvement that has occurred in me.

Lord, I thank You and praise You for the improvement in me that have occurred. It is Your work in me that has made these things possible. I ask You to help me remember to seek You first in the future and seek Your guidance so that Your will be done and that I am not trying to put my wishes in front you Yours. I thank You for my salvation. I ask in Jesus name that I learn patience and faith and that You give me the heart and mind of Christ. Please, draw loved ones to You so they may all know salvation and that they know Your will for them.

Amen.

Thanks you for stopping by today. Have a blessed day and be a blessing to others.
