I was flipping channels, because, well, despite all there are these days, never anything much good on, but I came across a channel showing Bob Ross the painter guy with the wildly curly hair that painted the “happy little trees.” I am no painter, I can barely draw a straight line with a ruler, just something about drawing and painting that I just couldn’t do. I found it fascinating that he did that stuff so effortlessly. But, besides how easy he made it look, I also noticed that the trees, if you looked closely, didn’t even look like trees. It was obvious when they zoomed in that they were just, well for lack of a better word, smudges of paint. AND…..well, that made me think about how sometimes, when we look at things from up close, they look different than the do from a distance. It also made me think how God takes the smudges we make of our life, but with a little (or, in my case, a lot) of work on His part, He makes us into something different. Then, when we are at a point that we can step back and see what He has done, it all make sense. Even though at the time this or that occurs, we don’t understand certain events. How things happen that we never wanted or anticipated. Or, if anticipated, occur too soon. He has a plan for us, sometimes, He allows hard times to occur, to test us, to strengthen us. Other times, He sits back and sees us doing something He wishes we would not do but He allows us to use our free will. And, when we use it in a way that displeases Christ, He still is able to use all that to finally get us to the place Jesus wants us to be in our Christian walk, once we surrender to Him. I look back at this time or that time in my life, some when I was not living right and at times I have walked with Him and there were many times I did not understand why I was having the hardship I was dealing with at the time. Sometimes, it seemed the harder I tried to do right, the more difficult it became. Sometimes, I was not giving Him the control and tried to do things myself and He was trying to teach me to trust Him, to have faith and to help me increase my faith. Other times, attacks from the enemy were the cause of the smudges. Regardless of whether of God or of Satan, God used them all to get me to the place I am now. I am in a great place with Christ and things get stronger every day. Praise God for His tolerance of fools like me and His willingness to put tremendous efforts into getting us where He wishes us to be for Him.
26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
What a mighty God we serve who helps is with our weaknesses, Jesus stands in our stead and intercedes for us. All things work together for us when we serve Him. He wants us to be the image of His Son, to be redeemed and perfect in God’s sight. He justified me, us. He has Glorified us all. If God be for us, and He is, then NO ONE can be against us.
Yeah, I have smudges on the canvas of my life. I have faced hardships, challenges, sorrows and some have been self imposed through my decisions, but others came about regardless of my choices or actions. But, those I made against His will, and others He allowed to occur in my life will all but used for His good. Praise the Lord for His infinite wisdom, grace and mercy.
Lord, I thank You and Praise You for all the mercies, blessings and forgiveness You give me. I thank You for working in my life to bring all together for Your good. I ask that You continue the work in me and while I don’t always understand your plans for my life, I pray You give me the faith and patience to allow Your will for me to be done. Teach me to know how to seek Christ better. Help me serve Jesus in the way that You wish me to serve. I ask in Jesus Name that You help me keep myself out of Your way for me and follow rather than try to be in charge. I pray for loved ones who have drifted far from You and need to see better the bigger picture on the canvas of their lives. Draw us all closer to You, bring those who do not know Christ to seek salvation.
I hope all allow God to make a masterpiece of their lives and have a blessed day. Please try to be a blessing to someone else today as well.
