This morning, it was raining and as I was driving, I had to stop at a traffic light. When the light turned green, I started to go, but then the car sort of slipped on the wet pavement and the front end slid towards a car in the next lane, then, the traction control kicked in, the car straightened out and no accident. (no, not the pic above) Thank the Lord for traction control. Then, I thought about how He is our traction control in life. As long as we are serving Christ, living for Him as we should, then He will watch over us. He watches over a lot of us when we aren’t living for Him as well, but not as closely as when we serve as we should.

I can think of more times than I can remember that He protected me, from spiritual and physical harm. At times, He allowed me to suffer some harm, but that was minimal compared to how it could have been for me. Sometimes, He lets us learn the hard way, whether we want to or not. I have had a lot of near disasters, near misses with cars, when at war when enemy tried to shoot me or blow up my vehicle, falls while climbing and so many more. A lot of near spiritual disasters, some EXTREMELY near disasters. But, every time, when I called on the Lord, regardless of if I was living right or not, He was faithful and true and saved me. Physically yes, but much more importantly, spiritually. When I needed Him, He was there and did not hesitate, my spiritual traction control, Jesus, was there to give traction during troubled times, to help get me moving straight, put me on the right path, and help me avoid serious damage and disaster.

Well, it seems that traction was not commonly used in the times of King James when the Bible was translated, but keeping my footsteps from slipping, and guiding me are consistent with His taking care of us in such times.

Hold up my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not. Psalms 17:5

Thou in thy mercy hast led forth the people which thou hast redeemed: thou hast guided them in thy strength unto thy holy habitation. Exodus 15:13

For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name’s sake lead me, and guide me. Psalms 31:3

I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.        Psalms 32:8

And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not. Isaiah 58:11

Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. John 16:13

Yes, He will be there to protect us, guide us, keep us on the right path and to prevent us from slipping, simply call on Him and He will be there to keep us safe, physically and spiritually. I praise Christ that we have the salvation and the protection from our Heavenly Father that He gives us, though we usually do not deserve it.

Jesus, I thank You for my deliverance, for Your sacrifice that made my salvation possible. I praise You for the protection You give me, the way You guide me and set me on the right path. I ask that You continue that protection, of me and of loved ones. That You give us the guidance to follow the paths You have planned for us. Draw us all closer to You that we may serve You better and those that do not know You, show them that they need You in their lives.

Thanks for checking my blog today. I hope this helps someone, I have said before, and will say again, that writing my thoughts like this definitely reinforces what I am learning.
