I was thinking about how when I purchase things I often just pay, use the debit card or cash but don’t stop to think about what the actual cost of things I buy. How many hours did I work to buy this or that thing. What else will it cost? Wear and tear on my car, the gas to get to the store. Lots of other things go into the cost of something. Then, I started thinking about how sometimes, I am doing things that takes more than one person to do. So, I call someone and ask for a hand. What is the cost for the time and effort they give me? Well, they expect me to do the same in return when they need a hand. Sometimes, it is similar things, sometimes, it is something more difficult and time consuming. Depends on what is going on at the time and most of us think nothing about it. I know I don’t mind, I enjoy helping others. But, there are those that make sure you know they owe you, and often make sure others are aware as well. Then, subtly or at times not so subtly, begin to want some sort of payback, more and more. I had one friend that stopped and helped me change a tire once years ago. He never let me forget that, always called when he was working on his car, wanting me to stop everything to come run and help. I would always try to help, but he would get angry when I couldn’t and talk about how he helped me with my car problem.
BUT, you know who does for us, gave more for us than we could ever pay back? Well, I am sure you already know, I am going to say, Jesus. The price he paid for the cost of our sins was suffering pain and death. But, He defeated death and gave us the opportunity to do so as well.
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. John 1:7
For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. Matthew 26:28
But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. Isaiah 53:5
Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. 1 Peter 2:24
So please, take time to think about the cost of things in your life, but more importantly, remember the price Christ paid for us.
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23
Jesus, I thank you for the price you paid for me, I thank you for my life eternal. I pray that you continue to work with me to better make me a proper servant. I ask that you not only work in me, but in loved ones and others that your way be done with all. Thank you for taking the burden for me and giving me a much, lighter more easier burden to bear.
Thanks for reading along today. Hope all have blessed day and bless others in the process.
