The POWER of a song!

because he lives

Have you ever thought about songs are powerful? I have, in the past, had songs that meant a lot to me: Christian music because of the message, melody, lyrics and some secular music for the melody and lyrics, sometimes memories associated with the songs that make you remember a special place, time, person. Maybe those memories are good, bad or a mixture of good and bad. Tonight, at a music recital for my granddaughter, a mixture of piano, violin, vocals which was held in a church in town as the music instructor was the pianist at the church and a lot of her students attend church there, like my daughter and her family. One girl sang a song that REALLY got to me for a couple reasons. One, the message, I had not truly listened to it the words for a long time, actually, I hadn’t heard it for a very long time either. But, it was a song my mother sang in church a lot of times. After the first verse of the song, starting into the chorus, I started to tear up a bit, at first, I wasn’t sure why, then the power of the words hit me and part way through the second verse is when it clicked in my mind that with my mother singing and playing piano. I could see her sitting at the piano, playing and singing, she had her own style, as do many musicians and I no longer was hearing the pianist playing tonight, I heard my mother. It was her playing an singing I was hearing, I could see her sitting there. She has been gone for 3 years, but certain things, sometimes small things, sometimes big, still get to me. Folks that lost parents years ago say the same thing 20 or 30 years later.

But, as I said, the message was really powerful too, far more so than I remembered it being. Perhaps that is because I am listening with a different type of hearing. I truly believe that is a lot of it. I am not listening with mortal ears, but with the ears of a Christian, which makes a big difference. One can get a lot more meaning from the songs when they listen to what it is saying with the mind set of the song and music glorifying Christ.

The song was, “Because He Lives.” Here is a link if you want to hear it.

Because He Lives

The words, really, for a lot of reasons meant so much to me. Even though some sadness due to missing my mother, there was joy. She is with Christ now and rejoicing. Rejoicing that she has no more pain or suffering and that she knows I am following Christ as I should. They also meant a lot because of facing the future with Christ, I know He is in control and all things will be in accordance with His plan. I just have to let Him lead. I gave all those things to Christ, my worries, concerns, hurts, anger, my plans for my future. God I in control.

Here are the lyrics.

(Verse 1)
God sent his son
They called him Jesus
He came to love
Heal and forgive
He lived and died
To buy my pardon
An empty grave
Is there to prove
My Savior lives

Because he lives
I can face tomorrow
Because he lives
All fear is gone
Because I know
He holds the future
And life is worth the living
Just because he lives

(Verse 2)
How sweet to hold
A newborn baby
And feel the pride
And joy he gives
But greater still
The calm assurance
This child can face
Uncertain days
Just Because he lives

(Verse 3)
And then one day
I’ll cross the river
I’ll fight life’s final war with pain
And then as death
Gives way to victory
I’ll see the lights
Of glory and
I’ll know he lives

Lyrics found <a href=””>here</a&gt;

For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.  Romans 14:9

And when they found not his body, they came, saying, that they had also seen a vision of angels, which said that he was alive. Luke 24:23

Yes, He is alive, risen. Christ defeated death and Because He Lives, we have a future. Not a lot more to say, beautiful song, beautiful memories, blessings from God for sure.

Lord, I praise You for the gifts You give me, for the beautiful memories I had not thought about for years. I glorify You for the praying mother that is rejoicing with You right now. I thank You for the gift of Your Son and for Christ’s sacrifice. I praise You for His resurrection, for the fact that Because He Lives, I can face tomorrow and the future with the comfort that You have Your hand on my life and will be with me in all times, the good and bad. I ask that You continue to work on me to help me become the Christian You wish me to be. I pray You work in the hearts of loved ones, draw them to You and show them Your will in their lives as well.

I thank You for my salvation and Your mercy, forgiveness and grace.

Thanks again. I hope all are blessed, and bless others as well.
