miner

I want to be a miner! I enjoy digging and working in dirt and rock, seeking something valuable contained in the ground. I know people that make their living mining. Some mine like you can see on TV, digging where gold has been deposited in rivers and streams in the past. Others I know do what is called hard rock mining, cutting through rock, blasting at times, to get to the rich deposits contained there in. Both can find gold. Depending on which you speak to, they may believe that the way they do it is best. There are riches to be had with either method. Both require a lot of work, hard work, and dedication because it takes a lot to get through the layers of dirt and rock to find the riches they seek. Some I know, just want to glean the surface layers, get the easy pickings so to speak, get what they can with some effort, but not true dedication. Others, will plan carefully and work hard, digging deeper, sorting through much more material to get to the truly rich deposits. Those that are willing to dedicate so much effort into the mining do receive the greatest reward.

For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works. Matthew 16:27

I was watching one of the shows on TV, seeing different groups of miners as they work to get their riches, their rewards. I noticed that some study where the gold should be, consider ways to better enhance their efforts and improve the chances to find larger amounts of gold. Others, do as I said, barely skim the top, taking what little is easy to find. Others yet, are somewhere in between. I thought to myself, that is how many study the Bible, some study hard, digging deep to the bedrock to find guidance and inspiration, others just look a little and are happy with smaller amounts of good. I at times have done both types of Biblical mining. There are times I need or want a little nugget to help me with a particular issue. Other times, I want to dive deep into the scripture, immerse myself in parts of it, not just read, but study, compare different passages that relate to one another that by taking together give a more meaningful answer.

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.  Matthew 6:33

I want to be a miner of the scripture and to mine my heart so dig out the ore, refine it and have the pure heart. Christ wishes me to have. I want to be that hard rock miner and to put true effort in my search through the scriptures to get that truly rich reward, to obtain that huge pile of Biblical gold that He has deposited for me. The riches in His word so exceed the riches of the earth. The riches of the earth are needed, we have to have money to live, pay bills, buy food, to have shelter, but Oh, the spiritual riches, those are the riches that will never stop rewarding me.  I will dig and mine and dig further to better learn how to walk with Christ.

If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.  Colossians 3:1

Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls: Matthew 13:45

Lord, I praise your Holy name, I thank you for your mercy for someone as lowly as I. You pulled me from a dark and lonely place and wrapped me in your love and goodness. I ask that you continue to work with me to help me serve YOU better. I pray you help me become a miner of the scripture. That you help me better learn how to study your word, to help me better immerse myself in the Bible, so I may obtain the true riches it contains.

I pray also that you continue to work in the hearts of my family and loved ones, in all people, that you put the burden in their hearts to seek you and to seek what you wish for them. That you give them the yearning to seek a heart like yours and that you show them what your plan or them is that they may live better for you Jesus and that they may enjoy the spiritual rewards you have in store for them if they listen to Christ. Show them what their future should be with you. Remove stumbling blocks from their path, and mine, to get that life, here and in eternity, that you have in store.

Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;
1 Timothy 6:17-19

Thank you all for bearing with me. Reckon it’s time to get to mining. Please, share or comment as you feel He leads you.
